___

BEST MATCHUP

Once a ball-control slot-T offense, Marysville-Pilchuck is now a splitting image of its opponent Saturday - Gig Harbor - by throwing the football a ton. QB Luke Shoemaker is one of the 3A Wesco's better quarterbacks and has a talented cast behind him. So does Tides' QB Benji Park, who will look for WRs Drake Matthies and DJ Darling often.

___

SCORING POTENTIAL

Not only does the Mount Spokane-Roosevelt game have massive light-up-the-scoreboard appeal, it features two of the state's most exciting perimeter big-play threats in Wildcats' speedster Bode Gardner (likely GSL MVP) and Roughriders' ATH Kayo Patu, an Arizona commit. Whoever controls the outside lanes should win.

___

GRINDER POTENTIAL

Behind its defense, Timberline surged late, including emerging from a mini-tiebreaker Tuesday, to get the chance to slow down perennial power Ferndale and its patented Wing-T offense. It should be strength on strength, and up to DL Ty Evans and Feru Galoia, and MLB Darrell Gipson to disrupt thing for the Blazers.

___

STANDOUT OF THE WEEK

O'Dea's Jason Brown Jr., the state's top tailback, is ready to hit another gear. He enters the postseason with 1,365 rushing yards and 26 touchdowns, hasn't been overworked in the team's eight games and had Week 9 off with a bye. He should see big-chunk run opportunities against a feisty Shorecrest defensive front.

___

WHO ADVANCES

Arlington, Auburn Riverside, Bellevue, Eastside Catholic, Ferndale, Garfield, Kennewick, Lincoln of Tacoma, Marysville-Pilchuck, Monroe, Mount Spokane, Mount Tahoma, Mountain View, O'Dea, Seattle Prep, Yelm.
