District court postpones cases for Texas high school football championship

392nd District Court of Henderson County delays cases ahead of hometown Malakoff's UIL 3A Division I title game against Franklin

Just how much does Texas cherish its high school football?

The UIL Class 3A Division I championship will be decided on Thursday afternoon at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, and a United State District Court is clearing its scheduled accordingly for one of its excited East Texas cities.

The 392nd District Court of Henderson County, Texas cancelled all cases Thursday afternoon as its own Malakoff (15-0) takes on Franklin (14-1). Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. Central time.

The announcement was made in a post to Facebook:

"Due to tomorrow’s (December 14th) State Championship game between Henderson County’s own Malakoff Tigers and the Franklin Lions, all cases on the afternoon docket have been rescheduled to a later date. Go Tigers!"

— Office of Judge R. Scott McKee, 392nd District Court, Henderson County

Malakoff will look to unseat a two-time defending champion in Franklin. The Lions won in 2021 and 2022 and have only lost twice since 2020.

The game is being televised regionally by Bally Sports Southwest. Stay with SBLive for live coverage from the ground in Arlington for Class 3A Division I and all championship week.
