Watch: Sac-Joaquin Section girls basketball highlights — Folsom ends McClatchy's 17-game win streak in D1 semis

Defending D1 section champions display 'A' game with 66-38 victory over one of the state's hottest teams

FOLSOM, CALIFORNIA — A basketball clinic.

That's what Folsom's girls basketball team put on display Monday night during a 66-38 Sac-Joaquin Section Division 1 semifinal playoff win over red-hot McClatchy.

Crisp passing. Ball-hawking defense. Lights-out shooting. Superb ball movement were all on display (see Brian Kimoto's video at top of page) in a thorough and complete victory over a team that came in with 17 straight wins and had moved into the SBLive State rankings.

The Bulldogs simply had too much of everything while winning their 12th in a row.

Junior guard Sophia Mindermann had 19 points, Cal-bound post Kamryn Mafua added 15 points and Ella Uriarte contributed 12 as Folsom improved to 25-4. A 22-8 run in the second quarter did in McClatchy (24-6), which got 13 points by Nina Cain and 12 by Daisy Throckmorton.

Folsom, the top seed, moved into Wednesday's 6 p.m. championship game at Golden 1 Center against No. 2 St. Mary's-Stockton, a 63-49 winner over Oak Ridge. Folsom beat St. Mary's in last season's D1 championship, 58-53.

Folsom is ranked No. 5 in the SBLive California rankings while St. Mary's is No. 10 and McClatchy is No. 22.
