TALLAHASSEE, FLORIDA – This Florida Class 1S state championship showdown between Trinity Catholic and Cardinal Mooney kicks-off the second day of the 2023 Florida high school football championships, which will feature nine games over three days at Florida A&M University.

- INTERCEPTION! Wright's throw reaches the end zone and McCorkle picks it off to clinch the championship for the Cougars. Final!

- Before the snap, Mooney takes a look at the formation and calls a timeout.

- Wright makes another first down throw to Rudnianyn just across midfield. TC takes its final timeout. We will see a Hail-Mary pass with four-seconds left.

- Wright makes a first down throw to Josh Wright at the 39. The Celtics spike it to stop the clock with 11 seconds left.

- Another incompletion. It's third and 16 from the 20. Only 19 seconds remain.

- Wright's throw is incomplete and pass interference is called on the offense. That's a loss of 15. It's dire now for the Celtics.

- Wright finds Lawton for nine yards. Timeout with 28 seconds on the clock.

- Celtics will start at their own 27 and they need a touchdown. They have two timeouts and 41-seconds.

- TOUCHDOWN! Nobody covers Chris McCorkle. He runs wide open down the right sideline and Valentino finds him. Mooney adds the extra point and the Cougars now lead, 31-27, with 47-seconds left.

- On a long incompletion, TC is called for roughing the passer. That advances the Cougars into TC territory. First down at the 39 with 53 seconds on the clock.

- Mooney nearly breaks the kickoff but steps out at the 31. Valentino hits Teddy Foster. First down at the 46. TC calls timeout with 59-seconds left. 

- FIELD GOAL! Badics drills it, topping his career-long by eight yards. Trinity Catholic takes the lead with 1:10 to play in the fourth quarter.

- Celtics have a fourth and 11 upcoming and they are going to give Badics a shot at 49-yard goal attempt.

- Wright goes for the home run throw but cannot connect with Hayes in the end zone.

- Rudnianyn does it on offense as well. He makes a big catch and run to Mooney 31. Only 1:45 left.

- Valentino makes a dangerous throw over the middle that is nearly picked. Mooney will punt and it is fair caught at the Celtics 42. 2:49 left.

- A false start makes it third and 29. Barring a big play, TC will get the ball back.

- Luke Rudnianyn tracks down Valentino for a huge 14-yard loss, with a sack. After an incompletion, it's third and long.

- Beach converts a first down run to the 46. Under four minutes left in regulation.

- Again, Valentino tucks it and run, gain of three to the 39.

- Valentino on a third down keeper, converts the first down. Mooney moves out beyond the 35. Timeout with 5:42 left.

- Valentino runs for six of first down.

- Courtney Patterson makes a huge hit on the kick return. Mooney will begin at the 20.

- FIELD GOAL! Badics makes up for his earlier miss by splitting the uprights from 31-yards away. We are tied again with 6:51 left.

- On third and eight, Wright's pass glances off McFadden's hands in the end zone. It's fourth down and decision time.

- Cedric McFadden gets open inside the five and he is interfered with, giving TC 15 yards and a first down at the Mooney 15.

- Two shorts bring up a third and three for TC.

- Wright finds Hayes on third and 11. First down for the Celtics with 9:23 left.

- Trinity Catholic flagged for illegal procedure. It's second and 13.

- Hayes goes backwards on the punt return and is knocked down at the 50. The Celtics will start there.

- Valentino has Lang open deep down field, but the ball eludes his grasp for a near miss. Now it's fourth down.

- Jacob Dyer sacks Valentino. It's a loss of eight as the third quarter comes to a close.

- Badics kick stays to the right of the upright and Mooney retains its lead as it takes over at its own 20.

- Write throws to the end zone but Josh Wright trips and the ball falls incomplete. The Celtics are lined up for a 33-yard field goal.

- Lawton gets a step in the end zone but the ball is thrown beyond the endline. Third and 10.

- Lawton makes a leaping catch, bounces off a hit and runs for a first down at the Cougars' 16. We have an injury timeout with less than a minute to go in the quarter.

- The Celtics face third and six with 1:48 to go in the third quarter.

- Mooney roughs the kicker and TC will get 15 yards and a first down. They are at the Mooney 35.

- The Mooney D forces a three and out. TC is set up in punt formation once again. 2:48 to play in the quarter.

- Wright completes a tunnel screen to Hayes who is stopped after a two-yard gain.

- The kick is marked out of bounds at the 50. Great field position for the Celtics with 4:25 to go in the third.

- The penalty was declined and Trinity Catholic gets the stop on third down. The Celtics force a punt.

- Beach has some room on first down, but slips after a gain of two. Valentino is stopped for no gain. Making it worse, the Cougars are called for holding.

- Get roll on the punt pins the Cougars back on their own 14. 5:57 left in the third.

- Mooney gets the stop and will get the ball back on a punt.

- The Celtics get a nice kickoff return, but now face third and six from the 37.

- FIELD GOAL! The TC defense stiffens and Cardinal Mooney settles for a 33-yard field goal from Nino Schuetz to regain the lead with 8:28 left in the third quarter.

- Valentino converts third and short with a run to the 19.

- The Cougars passing game clicks again. Valentino finds Zy-marion Lang for a 28-yard gain. Mooney is in TC territory.

- After an unsuccessful start to the drive, the Cougars are going to let the first half clock run out. We will go to the half all tied up.

- Mooney has three time outs and 40 seconds to answer. They start at their own 20.

- TOUCHDOWN! After another short pass to Hays, Wright to Wright strikes again for a 19-yard TD. The kick ties it up, with 40-seconds left in the second quarter.

- John Hays collects a screen pass and runs for a first down at the Mooney 24.

- Preston Wright connects with Josh Wright for 12 on third-and-10. First down Celtics.

- Trinity Catholic will start at the Mooney 47 after the punt. They have 1:58 to try and get closer.

- Johnson with another huge play for the the Celtics' defense, with a sack. He now has 2-1/2 sacks (21 on the season) and an interception. Cardinal Mooney will have to punt.

- Mooney will start at its own 20 after the kickoff.

- TOUCHDOWN! On third and goal, Starkes gets the push and runs into the end zone. The Celtics capitalize on the turnover and move within a touchdown. The kick is good. 3:25 to play in the half.

- Holder gains six on first down and four on second down. First and goal from the two.

- INTERCEPTION! Zach Johnson makes a huge play for the Celtics. He tips a Valention pass high into the air and then catches it, before returning it to the Mooney 12. First down.

- A defensive holding call on a pass play, makes second and long, second and eight for Mooney.

- Trinity Catholic is bottling up the Cougars' running game, but Mooney is dominating through the air. We have a water break at the 5:41 mark.

- Valentino makes a nice first down throw to Mason Jordan at the 32.

- The punt bounces out of bounds at the 19. Mooney's big play offense is back on the field.

- It's a quick three and out for the Celtics. They have to punt again with 7:42 remaining in the first half.

- TOUCHDOWN! Michael Valentino gets a shot at QB and makes a great throw. Foster grabs it out near the 35, slips by a defender, has no one in front of him as he scores from 82-yards out. Kick is good and the lead grows to 21-7.

- Wright lets a deep ball fly. Two Mooney defenders collided as they prevented each other from the interception. TC punts and Mooney has it again, at its own 17. 10:04 left in the half.

- Wright faces relentless pressure throws incomplete. It's third and 13 from the Mooney 44.

- Jamarkus Starkes runs for eight to get the drive underway. A face mask call adds 15.

- Another pouch kick, with no return, gives Trinity Catholic possession at their own 38. 11:49 to play in the half.

- Mooney tries a surprise on-sides kick, but several Cougars were offsides. They will re-kick after a 5-yard penalty.

- TOUCHDOWN! On the first play of the quarter, Beach goes 4-yards for the TD. The kick is good. The Cougars have their first lead.

- On third and long, Mignery's pass falls incomplete, but a pass interference call on the defense gives the Cougars half the distance and and another shot at third down. Carson Beach then runs for the first down as the first quarter ends. It will be first and goal to start the second quarter.

- This time TC's Zach Johnson drops Mignery for a 9-yard loss.

- On third and long, Mignery releases it under pressure and finds Bo O'Daniel for a 53-yard reception, at the Trinity Catholic 16.

- Cardinal Mooney shows the option. It's second and eight from the 29.

- TC takes a deep shot of its own, but Wright's throw is too long. The Celtics have to punt it away.

- A short kick gives the Celtics great field position once again. They have a first down at their own 42.

- TOUCHDOWN! Junior Chris McCorkle beats his man down the right sideline and Mignery throws a dime for a 77-yard score. The point is good and we are tied with 4:48 to play in the first.

- A pre-snap penalty costs Mooney five yards. First and 15.

- A completion to Teddy Foster from Devin Mignery comes up one yard short of the first down. Carson Beach then barely converts the fourth down run. First down at the 28. There is a timeout with 5:16 left in the opening quarter.

- Not much happening on the first two downs. The Cougars face third and eight from the 20.

- After the kickoff, the Cougars will start their first possession at their own 18.

- TOUCHDOWN! A big hole opens on the left side and Holder bores through for a 3-yard TD run. Cooper Badics adds the extra-point. Celtics lead 7-0 with 7:21 remaining in the first quarter.

- QB Preston Wright scrambles and gets the three yards back. Third down.

- Lorenzo Walls makes a big defensive play, dropping Holder for a 3-yard loss on first down.

- TC lined up for a field goal, but Mooney jumped offside. That gives the Celtics a first and goal at the three.

- On third and three from the six, Holder is dropped for a 1-yard loss.

- On second down, Austin Holder explodes for 27 yards. First and 10 at the 13.

- Gerald "Juice" Lawton III weaves his way through traffic, on the return, out past the 40. A face mask call adds 15. Celtics start at the Mooney 44.

TRINITY CATHOLIC VS. CARDINAL MOONEY

- Trinity Catholic has won the coin toss and they have elected to defer. The Celtics will kick to Cardinal Mooney.

- Mooney is dress in all orange with white trim, with orange helmets with black decals trimmed in white. Trinity Catholic has black pants, white jerseys with green numbers trimmed in black with gold helmets sporting bright green shamrocks.

- The weather is a little milder than yesterday. We're in the mid-50s.
