National top 25 high school wrestling rankings for every weight class (1/26/2024)

Anthony Knox returns to No. 1 at 120; several ranked wrestlers shift weight classes; the postseason approaches

The rankings remained relatively intact this week. There were some changes to a number of weights but there were also three or four where everything stayed at the status quo.

Some of these changes were due to wrestlers moving to different weights. Most of the movement was due to what took place on the mat, though. Most of the shuffling was done in the middle of the weight class rankings, with most of the top spots staying in line.

There is a newish No. 1 at 120 in St. John Vianney’s Anthony Knox. We say newish because he was No. 1 at that weight after beating Blair Academy’s Leo DeLuca at FloWrestling’s Who’s No. 1 and following that up with a Super 32 title at 120 before going up to 126 for part of New Jersey’s season.

We’ve also removed a few wrestlers who have yet to compete this season. We were giving them the benefit of the doubt and leaving them in based on their accomplishments, but with some states starting their postseason and others not far behind, we took a closer look at some of the wrestlers this week.

Indiana starts its four-part individual postseason this weekend with sectionals, followed by regionals next week. Tennessee has the Division II East Section Duals, and there are too many conference/league tournaments happening to name.

There are still some regular season events happening as not all states are on the same timeline. Florida had their dual meet states last week, but instead of jumping into the individual process, there are other events happening including the competitive Colby Singletary tournament hosted by Palmetto Ridge.

There a huge dual meet in California as Buchanan squares off with Poway at Fresno City College on Saturday.

A few other regular season tournaments of note are happening around the country. In Ohio there is the Rieman Invitational, the Big 4+4 in Oklahoma, Westminster Invitational in Utah, the George Hoover Invitational in Missouri, and the Overfelt Classic in California.
