Vote: Who has been the best sophomore quarterback in West Virginia so far in 2023?
We are just past the mid-point part of the 2023 high school football season here in West Virginia and there’s no shortage of underclassmen quarterbacks performing at a high level.
It’s no surprise that sophomores are showing out in the Country Roads as that’s been the case in the past many times over. This list of underclassmen features some of the top sophomore signal callers we’ve seen or have been on the rise in West Virginia. Take a look at our list and vote for who you feel has been the top performing sophomore high school quarterback in West Virginia.

Here are the nominations:
Chance Barker, Princeton: The Tigers signal caller has completed 107-of-151 passes for 2,057 yards, 31 touchdowns and just a mere two interceptions this season. Incredible sophomore numbers.
Brysen Dixon, Doddridge County: Dixon completed 71-of-121 passes for 1,145 yards and 11 touchdowns for Bulldogs.
Coleton Hellems, Nicholas County: The Grizzlies sophomore gunslinger has thrown for 1,136 yards and nine touchdowns. Hellems has done a nice job taking care of the football, only throwing three interceptions.
Tyler Smith, Witt County: Smith has played very efficiently under center for Witt County, throwing for 995 yards, 13 touchdowns and just four interceptions this season.
Adam Baisden II, Logan: Through five games, Baisden II has had a nice season so far for the Wildcats. Baisden has thrown for 900 yards on 66-of-119 passes and seven touchdowns.
Caleb Hall, Glimer County: Hall has been solid under center for the Titans his sophomore season, completing 56-of-117 passes for 850 yards and eight touchdowns.
Peyton Cook, Poca: The Dots’ starting signal caller has put up some yardage this season, throwing for 825 yards on 58-of-109 passing. Has also thrown four touchdowns.
Jacob Greathouse, Roane County: Greathouse has been one of the more efficient, better ball protecting quarterbacks of the sophomore class. The signal caller has thrown for 777 yards, 12 touchdowns and just three interceptions.
