The 2023 high school football season is complete and we are going around the East Coast, reflecting on the last few months.

One of the big questions is what newcomers on the scene made the biggest impact to a football program or state even? That’s where freshman that saw extensive playing time come into the mix.

That’s why we ask the question: Who was the top freshman football player of 2023?

We will go state-by-state along the East Coast and once that voting is done, do a final poll including all the sophomore that won going head-to-head.

We’ve selected 10 worthy candidates and ask you the fan to vote for who you think topped them all.

Voting will end on February 14th, 2024.

Editor’s note: Our corresponding poll is intended to be fun, and we do not set limits on how many times a fan can vote during the competition. This poll is specifically for fans to vote on the players that have been nominated and in no way discredits any other player that may not be mentioned in our poll.

Here are the nominees:

Denari Hill, QB, Woodbridge: Hill led all freshman signal callers in passing yards this season, with the quarterback throwing for 1,606 yards and 16 touchdowns this past season.

Stanford Lipscomb, QB, Dan River: The signal caller was another freshman that put up some solid numbers in 2023. Lipscomb threw for 748 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Malcolm Bivens, RB, Sussex Central: When it comes to running backs in Virginia of the 2027 class, Bivens was tops in yardage. Biven has rushed for 1,007 yards and eight touchdowns.

Ethan Lafollette, RB, Loudoun Valley: Lafollette saw time on both sides of the ball for Loudoun Valley and done most of his damage on offense. The tailback rushed for 888 yards and scored 12 times.

Anthony Henderson Jr., WR, Bruton: The fleet-footed freshman wideout had a strong freshman season. Henderson Jr. hauled in 43 passes for 695 yards and six touchdowns.

Iveon Lewis, WR, Hugenot: Lewis wasn’t too far off to Henderson Jr. in the receiving department. The wide receiver caught 26 passes for 667 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Devin Chittams, LB, National Christian Academy: When it comes to freshmen leaders in the sack department, Chittams was among the leaders. The linebacker has totaled six sacks this fall.

Camdon Wysocki, DT, Meadowbrook:No defensive lineman has made the kind of impact as a freshman like Wysocki. The defensive tackle tallied 74 tackles, 15 for loss and three sacks.
