Can Plano East continue undefeated season in UIL 6A regional quarterfinals?

Nationally ranked Plano East puts its undefeated season on the line with a ranked Texas high school boys basketball playoff showdown on Tuesday night.

The Panthers (35-0) face Allen (32-5) in the UIL 6A Region 1 and 2 quarterfinals at the Curtis Culwell Center in Garland in a rematch of each team's season opener.

Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. (central time) and the game will be streamed live on the NFHS Network (subscription required). The winner faces the winner of Frenship and Eaton — which also tips at 7 — in the regional semifinals. 

Plano East, the No. 14 ranked team in the nation (SBLive/SI) and No. 2 team in Texas, toppled Allen in its season opener in November.

-- Plano East proved one thing in spades as its pulled away from a talent-laden Allen on Tuesday night: The 36-0 Panthers are a buzzsaw. DJ Hall and Xavier Miller have 17 points apiece to help Plano East pull away in the fourth quarter for a 27-point win.

-- Plano East has won games by more than 20 points per game this season on its undefeated run, and leads by 16 — 33-17 — at the half thanks to a 20-point second quarter.
