Miller pulls away from Veterans Memorial in South Texas high school football showdown
Corpus Christi Miller remains without a blemish.
Miller (8-0) pulled away late to beat Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial (6-2) on the road in a back-and-forth matchup atop the District 14-5A standings.
The two are among the top 5 teams in South Texas: Miller is No. 2 and Veterans Memorial is No. 5 in SBLive's South Texas power rankings.

A win puts Miller a game ahead in front of the District 14-5A standings. Both teams entered 4-0 in district play. The top four seeds in each district advance to the postseason.
Miller is led by quarterback Trevor Long, who completed 7 of 12 passes for 142 yards and three touchdowns during a 49-10 thrashing of Corpus Christi Moody in Week 8.
The Eagles are led by 6-foot-6 sophomore quarterback Billy White III, who threw for 372 yards and four touchdowns during the Eagles in a Week 8 win over Carroll, his third consecutive game with four passing touchdowns.
