Each week throughout the year, SBLive takes a look at the top high school athletes across the Lone Star State by researching the entire state, gathering the top performers and putting the best of the best up for reader vote.
We're splitting our Athlete of the Week process into two polls: a football player of the week and non-football athlete of the week. Those will publish on www.highschool.si.com/texas every Monday.

WHO SHOULD BE SBLIVE'S TEXAS ATHLETE OF THE WEEK?
Caroline Adams, Friendswood, volleyball
She had 31 assists and 10 digs for the Mustangs in a 3-0 win over La Porte on Friday. Earlier in the week, she had 47 assists and 13 digs in a 3-2 win over Manvel on Tuesday.
Ayden Ames, Prosper, volleyball
The Nebraska volleyball pledge had 20 kills on 25 swings — a .680 percentage — and helped the Eagles beat Allen, 3-0, on Sept. 26. The next day, she got her Under Armour All-American jersey.
Keely Anderson, Dickinson, volleyball
The junior racked up 78 assists in two wins for the Gators this week, a 3-2 win over Clear Creek on Tuesday and a 3-0 win over Clear Brook on Friday. She now has 865 assists on the season.
Favor Anyanwu, Sachse, volleyball
The senior and USC pledge had 35 kills and set a new school record for hitting percentage at .403 in a 3-1 win over Wylie East.
Emerson Chadwell, Saginaw Boswell, volleyball
The senior had 14 digs in a 3-2 win over Weatherford on Sept. 26 and in the game surpassed the 1,000 dig mark in her career.
Jacob Duong, Dallas Highland Park, boys water polo
The sophomore scored 10 goals and added three assists to help the Scots pick up a 15-6 win over Prosper Walnut Grove. It was his third game of 10 or more goals in a game.
Shannon Dworaczyk, Magnolia West, volleyball
The sophomore set a new career-high with 57 assists while adding 15 digs in a 3-2 win over Magnolia on Friday in a District 21-5A showdown.
Delaney Gonzalez, Sanger, volleyball
The junior liber broke the single-match record with 35 digs in a game against Wichita Falls on Tuesday. In the same match, she also surpassed 1,000 career digs.
Beau Henning, San Antonio Heights, boys water polo
The junior scored a season-high 7 goals, while adding an assist, to help the Mules pick up a 23-13 win over San Antonio Churchill on Tuesday.
Samantha Humphries, Flower Mound, girls cross country
The reigning Class 6A champion won the Nike South Invitational on Friday, running 17:13.50 in The Woodlands. She had a 13-second margin of victory in the event.
Aniya Joseph, San Antonio Harlan, volleyball
The 6-foot senior and West Texas A&M pledge had 18 kills, 14 digs and had only one error in 20 serve receive chases in a 3-1 win over San Antonio Brennan on Tuesday.
Logan Kraft, Pearland Dawson, boys water polo
In a battle of state-ranked teams, Kraft had seven goals and an assist to help the Eagles pick up a 17-8 win over Alvin on Tuesday. This was his third game of 7 goals or more this season for the senior.
San Juanita Leal, Edinburg North, girls cross country
The senior locked up her third win of the season by running 17:23.10 — a new personal record — at the Meet of Champions Cross Country Invitational on Saturday in Mission.
Caden Leonard, Southlake Carroll, boys cross country
In his first 5K of the season, the sophomore won the Nike South Invitational held at The Woodlands on Friday. He ran 15:06.30 and won by more than 16 seconds.
Joseph Lopez, San Antonio Northside Sotomayor, boys cross country
The senior picked up his first win of the season at the Boerne Invitational on Saturday, running 16:09.84.
Emma Martin, Fort Bend Austin, girls water polo
The junior was one of 12 Bulldogs to score in a 26-6 win over Fort Bend Dulles on Tuesday. She had a game-high six goals in the contest.
Caleb Millard, McKinney Boyd, boys cross country
Running at the Jesuit XC Classic in Oak Point, the senior picked up a win by running 15:25.70. He’s been first, second, or third in every race this season.
Caroline Mistric, Houston Cypress-Fairbanks, girls cross country
The freshman ran a personal best of 20:16 at the Aldine ISD Larry Gnatzig Invitational on Friday in Houston — and the first win of her young high school career.
Jordyn Moore, Argyle, volleyball
The junior contributed 37 assists, 13 digs, eight kills and three blocks in a 3-2 victory over Grapevine on Thursday.
Taryn Morris, Denton Braswell, volleyball
She had 23 kills and 30 digs in a 3-1 win against Little Elm on Sept. 26 for the Bengals. Had 26 digs and 14 kills in a 3-1 loss to McKinney Boyd on Sept. 29.
Kelly Murphy, Austin, boys water polo
The Maroons picked up a 20-6 win over Round Rock Cedar Ridge on Tuesday behind an 11-goal, 2-assist effort from the junior.
Bella Nahidi, Round Rock Cedar Ridge, girls water polo
In a 20-17 win over Austin, the junior had her second-highest-scoring game of the season with 8 goals.
Jocelyn Orenlas, El Paso Franklin, volleyball
The Cougars avenged their only district loss with a 3-1 win over El Paso Coronado on Tuesday. The junior had 13 kills and 18 digs in the game.
Taylor Porter, Houston Cypress Ranch, volleyball
The Mustangs picked up win No. 25 on the year with a 3-1 victory over Langham Creek. The Vanderbilt pledge had a team-high 18 kills in the contest.
Jennifer Ramirez, Terrell, girls cross country
The Tigers had a 1-2 finish from Ramirez and Mia Linda, with the junior Ramirez winning in 23:09.70 at the Corsicana Tiger Cross Country Invitational on Friday. It was a new career-best time for Ramirez.
Ashley Richardson, Clear Springs, volleyball
The senior had 14 kills, three blocks, 18 assists and 11 digs in a 3-2 win over Clear Brook on Sept. 26 in a District 24-6A contest. She ended the week with 494 assists this season and more than 2,200 in her career.
Ale Romo, McKinney Boyd, volleyball
She had 14 kills and 12 digs in a 3-0 win over Prosper Rock Hill on Sept. 26, helping the Lady Broncos improve to 6-0 in District 5-6A competition.
Ava Steffe, Frisco Memorial, volleyball
The junior surpassed the 1,000 career kill mark with 18 in a 3-1 win over Frisco Heritage on Tuesday. She added 8 service points, two blocks and 19 digs.
Audrey Terry, Spring Grand Oaks, volleyball
The nationally-ranked Grizzlies beat The Woodlands College Park, 3-0, on Tuesday in a District 13-6A game. Terry had 24 assists and had 17 service points to help her team improve to 36-1.
Arrisa Turner, Cleburne, volleyball
The Lady Jackets got a 3-1 win over Mansfield Timberview on Sept. 26. She had 12 kills, 7 aces and 17 total service points.
Macy Wingard, Denton Braswell, girls cross country
Running at the Chile Pepper Festival at the University of Arkansas on Saturday, she took second overall in a field of 648 runners, finishing with a time of 17:08.20.
