Once a Notre Dame commit, Peyton Bowen flipped to Oregon on National Signing Day earlier this year.

Following a reported miscue with paperwork, the five-star recruit from Denton Guyer (Texas) ended up signing with Oklahoma.

Through four and a half games of the 2023 college football season, it's been easy to see why he was coveted by so many teams and fan bases.

During the second quarter of No. 14 Oklahoma's game against Iowa State on Saturday, the highly-touted freshman blocked a punt for a safety, putting the Sooners up 30-20 on the Cyclones.

This wasn't the first time Bowen blocked a punt this season. He also blocked a punt in Oklahoma's 28-11 win over SMU.

Bowen was the nation's No. 2 safety and No. 16 overall recruit in the class of 2023, per the 247Sports composite rankings.

As a senior at Denton Guyer, the SBLive All-North Texas safety tallied 53 tackles, five interceptions (including two pick-sixes), four touchdowns on punt returns and one touchdown on a kick return.

Oklahoma (5-0) went on to beat Iowa State, 50-20, setting up a big-time matchup next week against No. 3 Texas (5-0).
