Michael Fasusi, nation's No. 3 offensive tackle, dons Texas Longhorns headband
COPPELL, TEXAS - One of the most sought-after offensive linemen in the nation has several major Division I schools on his radar, and a key visit lined up.
Michael Fasusi, a 6-foot-6, 290-pound 5-star junior left tackle from Lewisville, is still in the process of eventually narrowing down his final list. But which schools is still up in the air.
Leading the way is Texas and Oklahoma, with Ohio State and Oregon also among the early favorites, he said in an interview with SBLive on Friday after Lewisville's loss to Coppell.
Fasusi is a 5-star prospect, per the 247 Sports Composite. He's the No. 3 offensive tackle, No. 17 overall prospect in the nation and No. 3 prospect in Texas in the class of 2025.
“Right now, everything is just going great,” Fasusi said Friday after the Farmers’ loss to neighboring rival Coppell. “There have been a bunch of top schools out there: Texas, Oklahoma, Ohio State, there’s a lot of them out there. The plan is just to narrow it down right now, and of course, find the best choice.”
But there are other schools Fasusi is interested in, and he’s planning to arrange visits to in the near future.
“Right now, I’m trying to get out to Ohio State, Tennessee, Missouri. … (Currently the favorites are) just the schools I’ve mentioned, Texas, OU, Oregon, too, and then Ohio State. Missouri’s getting up there, too,” he said.
“I’m just planning on jumping into my top schools right now, leading up to the future and finding the right fit.”
In Friday’s game, Fasusi wore a burnt orange-colored headband featuring the Texas longhorn logo. But again, he stressed there are several schools high on his list.
He added other criteria being considered when choosing a school are the relationships with the coaching staff, program history and fan support. But above all else, he emphasized academics because, in his words, “football doesn’t last forever.”
As far as immediate visits go, Fasusi plans to go to TCU this weekend.
“This Sunday, I might be up there at TCU; that’s something that’s probably 100 percent going to happen,” he said. “We’re going to have a fun time in the process and see the facilities out there.”
Fasusi is ranked as a four-star recruit and considered the top player at his position in the Class of 2025 in the state by Dave Campbell's Texas Football.
