Here are the candidates for SBLive’s Texas High School Athlete of the Week for April 25th-May 1st as nominated by fans, readers and SBLive’s staff. Thalia Reyes, San Antonio O'Connor softball: Reyes picked up the win in the circle for San Antonio O’Connor, as she limited Laredo United South to three hits and struck out seven batters to claim the Class 6A Bi-District title.

Alexa Hanish, Marcus softball: Hanish hit two home runs and totaled five RBIs in the Lady Marauders' two-game sweep of Prosper.

Jaci Salinas, Santa Gertrudis Academy softball: Salinas pitched a complete game, allowing just one run and striking out 13 to lead Santa Gertrudis Academy to a 10-1 win over Odem in the 3A Region IV Bi-District playoffs.

Aniyah Bigam, Newman Smith girls track and field: Bigam took home first place in three events, the 100 meter dash (11.60), 200 meter dash (23.68) and the 400 (55.46) to secure a spot in the 5A state meet next week. 

Alli Stidham, Boswell softball: In 14 innings pitched, Stidham struck out 18 batters and only gave up three runs in two Bi-District playoff wins against Carroll. 

DeNae Vasquez-Dickson, Colleyville softball: Went 4-for-4 at the plate with a grand slam, three singles, and had six RBIs against Granbury in the first-round of the playoffs. 

Reese Beheler, George Ranch baseball: The Arizona State commit had two doubles and two RBIs in a 5-3 win over Dulles.

Austin Kiser, Braswell boys track and field: Kiser punched his ticket to the state meet this past weekend, winning regionals in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 14.06 and taking second place in the 300 hurdles with a time of 37.87 (PR). 

Emir Encalada, Laredo Alexander baseball: The senior right-hander tossed six scoreless innings to help Laredo Alexander rally past rival Laredo United to capture the District 30-6A title.

Kendrick Smallwood, Mesquite Poteet boys track and field: Smallwood broke the Class 5A Region II meet record, previously held by Robert Griffin III, in the 110 hurdles with a winning time of 13.49.

Roman Rodriguez, Moody baseball: Rodriguez tossed a complete game shutout with nine strikeouts in a 5-0 win over Victoria East.
