Coach of the Week

Here are this week's nominations.

Nick Pelham, White Knoll

The Timberwolves dominated a good River Bluff team 40-0 to remain undefeated and set up a region showdown with 5-A defending state champion Dutch Fork next week.

Josh Pierce, Conway

It’s always nice to pick up your first win at a school. That’s what Pierce did as the Tigers beat St. James 27-22 in their region opener.

Kevin Jones, Blackville-Hilda

The Hawks are positively taking flight. They’re 6-0 after downing Hunter-Kinard-Tyler 33-18 in a contest between two unbeaten teams. Blackville-Hilda was 2-8 last season.

Brian Lane, Westside

Sometimes you have to shift gears. The Rams are known for throwing the ball. On Friday, they emphasized the run game to beat Greenville 28-14 for their fifth straight win.

Kelvin Roller, Dillon

The Wildcats opened region play with an impressive 33-18 win over Loris. Dillon has won three in a row and is now 5-1.

Hayden Gregory, Bluffton

Bluffton recovered from last week’s loss to Beaufort by rallying to beat rival Hilton Head Island 28-24 in their region opener. The Bobcats are 4-2 overall.

Eric Bendig, Philip Simmons

The undefeated Iron Horses are running roughshod over everyone. Their latest outing was a 36-6 stomping of 3-A defending state champion Beaufort to open region play.

Leon Boulware, Lewisville

The Lions are the state’s top-ranked 1-A team. They won their sixth in a row after a season-opening loss to 2022 2-A state runner-up Oceanside Collegiate by throttling C.A. Johnson 35-6.

Chris Williams, Seneca

Seneca opened region play by powering past Crescent 41-14. It was an impressive showing by the Bobcats, who are 4-2 overall.

Treigh Sullivan, Dreher

The Blue Devils rolled past Swansea 51-7 to open region play and halt a two-game skid. Dreher is now 3-3.
