Julian Lewis named nation's No. 1 prospect by Rivals in updated rankings

Despite reclassifying from 2026 into 2025, Carrollton (Georgia) quarterback Julian Lewis is the nation's No. 1 prospect

It seemed inevitable that when Carrollton (Georgia) quarterback Julian Lewis reclassified from 2026 into 2025 he'd face a slight dip in the prospect rankings.

That possible drop had nothing to do with Lewis' (immense) talent, but rather the fact that he was being compared to players a year older.

Turns out, it hasn't slowed down the hype for the 6-foot-1, 185-pound passer in the slightest.

In Rivals' newly-released rankings, Lewis was named the top prospect in the class of 2025, a monumental achievement for a prospect who has already gone up a grade.

Here's what Rivals had to say about his rating:

"The new No. 1 player in the 2025 class, Julian Lewis has reclassified from 2026 but the USC commit has an incredibly advanced skill set. Training with elite quarterbacks in Georgia for years, Lewis is ready for the next level mentally and while he’ll never be the biggest quarterback that is not a knock in today’s game.

From arm strength to decision-making to leadership qualities, Lewis has everything one looks for in a superstar quarterback.

He's still being pursued heavily by Georgia, Alabama, Auburn, Colorado and others."

For his part, Lewis was honored by the distinction, but was quick to give credit to those around him:

Last fall, the Georgia product threw for 3,094 yards and 48 touchdowns with just two interceptions - an astounding 24-to-1 touchdown-to-interception ratio.

Lewis has been committed to USC since August, but is still clearly weighing his options, as he's visited Alabama, Georgia (three times, including one in which his truck was stolen at the airport), Colorado, Indiana and others.

It remains entirely possible he winds up somewhere other than Los Angeles, and his status should unofficially be listed as a "soft commitment" given his clear interest in other programs.

Still, he's the bot only the gem of USC's 2025 recruiting class, he's currently the best prospect in the country - in 2025, 2026 or whatever group to which he's compared.
