Prediction: Washington Huskies to complete flip of former Big 12 signee

Washington is perfectly situated to complete a key class of 2024 commitment flip

Perhaps the writing has been on the wall from the beginning.

When former Arizona Wildcats head coach Jedd Fisch departed for the head coaching job with the Washington Huskies, it immediately kick-started speculation that he could bring some of the roster - and class of 2024 signees - along with him to Seattle.

So, when Summit (Oregon) three-star tight end Charlie Crowell announced his release from Arizona, and picked up a quick offer from Washington, it all felt like a no-brainer.

Prediction: Charlie Crowell to Washington Huskies

While the 6-foot-5, 240-pound jumbo pass-catcher is still weighing all of his options, he admitted the opportunity to reconnect with Fisch and his coaching staff is appealing.

"I’m very very excited for my opportunity at Washington, mainly because I love their coaching staff," Crowell said. "They’re the coaching staff that recruited me at Arizona. I built lots of super strong relationships with coaches, and even some of the players they brought over, so that being a place that I have lots of relationships at is super gravitating."

Aiding Washington's effort is that Crowell visited the Huskies during his initial recruiting process and enjoyed his time in Seattle.

"I’ve taken a few visits to Washington before I committed to Arizona and I really enjoyed my time there," he said. "I thought the area was awesome, super cool that it’s right in Seattle and on Montlake. I enjoyed the campus, and when it comes to football, I loved the facilities and their giant stadium. It’s pretty close to home for me."

Still, Washington will have competition, as Crowell has been a popular "follow" on social media for college football coaching still in need of a tight end in the 2024 class.

And given that the nation's top-60 tight ends are all already signed, Crowell is an especially intriguing option given his availability.

He admits several staffs have made contact.

Could they possibly overcome the connection Crowell made with Fisch and his staff at Arizona, and now early at Washington?

It would definitely be an uphill battle, which is why I project he's a Husky in the end.
