Mark Iheanachor following Washington Huskies visit: 'They're top 3, but not 3'
The Washington Huskies have hit the reset button on the class of 2025 recruiting effort, thanks largely to the head coaching transition from Kalen DeBoer to Jedd Fisch.
Over the weekend, Washington played hosted to several prospects, and made a clear impression on one bluechip California defender, in particular.
For Narbonne (California) four-star linebacker Mark Iheanachor the visit vaulted the Huskies to a true contender.
"They're top three, but not three," he said.
The 6-foot-3, 220-pound 'backer had not yet been to Seattle on a recruiting visit, but it went far better than he anticipated.
"The trip was amazing," Iheanachor said. "My first time being there... atmosphere is crazy! Way better than I expected. I had a bond with the players already and they made me feel at home."
Previously Arizona target for Fisch, Iheanachor said that relationship has transitioned seamlessly to the Huskies, another reason for his excitement about the program.
"Man, it’s crazy," he said. "i talked to (Fisch) and he said he loves it. It’s nothing like Arizona... but he’s still going to be the same coach. You know, that really stuck with me."
Iheanachor doesn't yet have any other trips planned, but the class of 2025 prospect intends to spend the upcoming dead period mapping out his official visits.
Clearly, Washington is set to remain a contender.
He also holds offers from Arizona, Arizona State, California, Fresno State, Maryland, Oregon State, San Diego State, SMU, Washington State and others.
