Where will 5-star football recruits commit? Oregon, Florida State, Missouri among teams competing

A look at the four remaining uncommitted five-star prospects in the class of 2024

There are only four uncommitted five-star football prospects remaining in the class of 2024, which means class rankings are beginning to come into focus.

Still, those four elite athletes could shift the balance of power.

So, who are the contenders?

Here's a look at each of the uncommitted five-star prospects:

Ryan Wingo, St. Louis University (Missouri— The nation's No. 2 wide receiver and No. 5 overall prospect has experienced a fascinating recruitment.

The 6-foot-2, 205-pound pass-catcher has flirted with a number of schools, but in-state Missouri has hung around and established itself as a true threat.

Maybe even the leader as things wind down.

Aiding the Tigers' cause is the stellar play of sophomore wide receiver Luther Burden III, who has racked up 56 catches for 808 yards and five touchdowns so far this season.

Like Wingo, Burden was an in-state five-star pass-catcher who surprisingly chose to remain close to home.

"Be like Luther," seems to be a strong pitch.

Will it be enough to hold off Texas and others?

LJ McCray, Mainland (Florida) — Set to commit Saturday, LJ McCray is going to be tough to predict to the end.

Not long ago, the Florida Gators seemed like the team to beat, but there's a growing sentiment that it's a battle between Florida State and Georgia in the final days.

The nation's No. 6 overall prospect and No. 2 defensive lineman is the top uncommitted defensive prize in America.

It's rare that the Bulldogs finish as the runner-up for back-to-back five-star recruits (see: "Aydin Breland to Oregon" last week).

Right now, Florida State may have the edge, but it's coming down to the wire.

Elijah Rushing

Elijah Rushing, Salpointe Catholic (Arizona— When Elijah Rushing committed to Arizona over Oregon this summer, he immediately became the highest-rated in-state pledge in program history.

But Oregon was hardly willing to let the battle die down that easily.

The Ducks remained in the hunt, and as soon as Rushing decommitted earlier this month all signs pointed to an Oregon flip.

Dan Lanning's staff recently added Aydin Breland and would love to add another five-star recruit to its front seven.

If, in fact, Oregon completes the "slow-motion flip" it would give the program arguably the best defensive line haul in the country for the class of 2024.

Of note, Rushing is rated the nation's No. 14 overall prospect and No. 2 edge-rusher

Jordan Seaton

Jordan Seaton, IMG Academy (Florida— The biggest wildcard of the bunch, Jordan Seaton is rated the nation's No. 1 offensive tackle, but is versatile enough to be a contributor at a variety of spots at the college level.

The 6-foot-5, 290-pound lineman has been difficult to read.

Seaton has released a top 14 and visited Colorado, Florida and Tennessee - with a recently-scheduled trip to Oregon coming up this weekend.

He also canceled a visit to Oklahoma.

This feels like a pretty wide open battle.

It's worth monitoring visits.

A big-time trip could tilt this one.
