Imhotep Charter 38, Peters Township 13: Live updates recap from Pennsylvania 5A football championship

We're on Day 2 of crowning Pennsylvania high school football state champions, and Imhotep Charter vs. Peters Township are up next at Cumberland Valley High School.

Imhotep Charter and Peters Township are the last two teams standing in PIAA Class 5A and will meet at 7 p.m. Eastern time Friday, Dec. 8.

FOURTH QUARTER UPDATES

TOUCHDOWN INDIANS! Thomas Aspinall makes his second TD catch of the game to make it 38-13 Imhotep after the extra point is blocked. 4:59 left. Lucas Rost had the TD pass.

TOUCHDOWN PANTHERS! Mikal Davis Jr. fires over the middle to Johann Hennigan, who does the rest himself on a 50-yard TD. It's 38-7 Imhotep with 10:27 left.

THIRD QUARTER UPDATES

Lots of punts and not a lot of action in that quarter. On to the fourth with Imhotep Charter leading Peters Township 31-7.

TOUCHDOWN PANTHERS! Junior Georgia commit Jabree Wallace-Coleman takes off for a 68-yard TD run. It's quickly 31-7 Imhotep with 9:44 left.

Second half is here and Peters Township starts on its own 21.

SECOND QUARTER UPDATES

Halftime arrives with Imhotep leading 24-7 after Peters Township got one first down but then had to punt.

TOUCHDOWN PANTHERS! QB Mikal Davis Jr. with his third rushing TD of the game, tapping the pylon on an 11-yard carry. It's 24-7 Imhotep with 1:30 left.

TOUCHDOWN INDIANS! Great throw by Nolan DiLucia and an even better catch from Thomas Aspinall to narrow the deficit to 17-7 with 2:55 left.

TOUCHDOWN PANTHERS! Impressive third-down scramble from Mikal Davis Jr., who zigs and zags for a 22-yard TD. 17-0 Imhotep, 5:33 left.

Peters Township punted and Imhotep is on the 50 with 10:50 left in the half. 

FIRST QUARTER UPDATES

Woseley followed up the field goal with a wicked hit on special teams. Quarter ends with Imhotep leading 10-0. Peters Township has a fourth and 5 coming in its own territory.

FIELD GOAL PANTHERS! Kenny Woseley hits a 30-yard kick after a long pass from Mikal Davis Jr. to Nile Brown set it up. 10-0 Imhotep lead with 1:25 left. Darius McMillon saved a touchdown by chasing down Brown.

MISSED FIELD GOAL! A Jahsear Whittington sack forces a 41-yard kick, which has the leg but goes wide. Imhotep ball with 3:56 left, leading 7-0.

INTERCEPTION! Dante Recker gets the pick right after Peters Township had to punt. Indians ball on the Imhotep 36, trailing 7-0 with a little over six minutes left.

TOUCHDOWN PANTHERS! Mikal Davis Jr. keeps it himself and scores from 1 yard out. Methodical opening drive for Imhotep, which leads 7-0 with 8:19 left in the quarter.

We're underway! Short kick and Imhotep starts on its own 36.

Imhotep Charter's playoff path to get to the championship game went through wins over Roman Catholic (30-26), Delaware Valley (31-7) and Strath Haven (42-14).

Peters Township beat Pine-Richland 43-17, Erie Cathedral Prep 33-14 and Cocalico 14-9 to get here.

Imhotep Charter made it to the state championship game last year but lost to Pine-Richland in the final.

Peters Township knocked Pine-Richland out this year to win its first WPIAL football crown.

Imhotep Charter senior Mikal Davis Jr. has 2,233 yards and 17 touchdown passes this season, plus 614 yards and 13 scores on the ground.

Peters Township sophomore Nolan DiLucia has thrown for 3,036 yards and 30 touchdowns.
