Aloha softball
The Warriors opened the season with two shutout victories, beating South Eugene 8-0 at home and getting a 19-0 victory against Cleveland at Delta Park. Freshman Nellie Foust had two triples, a double and six RBIs in the two games.
Banks baseball
Class 3A Banks knocked off a couple of Class 4A squads, winning 5-0 at Astoria and then beating Gladstone 15-5. Senior Wyatt Hesselman picked up the pitching win and hit a home run in the victory over the Fishermen.
Dallas softball
The Dragons got off to a 2-0 start, opening their schedule with a 5-2 home win over Canby and then posting a 6-0 victory at West Salem. Senior Kadence Morrison pitched a no-hitter in the win over the Titans, striking out nine.
Hillsboro softball
The Spartans got their season off to a 2-0 start, getting an 8-5 win over Wells at Hillsboro Stadium and following with a 10-0 win over Woodburn at Hillsboro High School. Junior Madison Price went 3 for 4 with a double, three runs and three RBIs against the Guardians.
Jesuit baseball
The Crusaders notched a 5-3 win over West Linn in a rematch of last year’s Class 6A state championship game in a nonleague contest at West Linn High School. Junior Kainoa Santiago drove in two runs.
McNary girls track and field
The Celtics got their season off to a fast start, taking first place at the North Salem Ice Breaker meet. McNary triumphed with 82 points. North Salem was second with 53. Junior Asia St. John triumphed in the shot put and javelin events.
Mountainside girls tennis
The Mavericks roared to a 7-1 victory over South Salem in a nonleague match at South Salem High School. Mountainside got a 6-0, 6-1 win by Arushi Arora in the No. 1 singles match. At No. 1 doubles, the Mavericks’ duo of Thara Rao and Vasilisa Blinkova got a 6-0, 7-6 victory.
North Medford girls track and field
The Black Tornado opened the Southwest Conference dual meet schedule by posting an 83-56 win over Roseburg at North Medford High School. McKenna Donovan sprinted to victory in the 100-meter dash in 12.71 seconds, and she had a winning mark of 16 feet, 7 inches, in the long jump.
North Salem boys track and field
The Vikings took first place at the North Salem Ice Breaker meet. The host team triumphed with 81 points. McNary was second with 65. Senior DeMari Thompson sprinted to victory in the 100 and 200-meter dashes, and senior Brison SpeakThunder won both hurdles events.
Pendleton boys golf
The Buckaroos triumphed at the Bulldog Invitational at Big River Golf Course in Umatilla. Pendleton had a team score of 357 strokes to take first place. Hermiston was second with 382. Mason Morioka shot an 82, claiming medalist honors, to lead the way for the Buckaroos.
Pendleton girls track and field
The Buckaroos turned in an impressive performance in winning the Pilot Rock/Pendleton Ice Breaker meet at Pilot Rock. Pendleton triumphed at the five-team event with 206 points. Stanfield/Echo was second with 84. Nessa Neveau took first place in the discus and javelin.
Scio softball
The Loggers got off to an impressive start to the season, opening their schedule with a 12-0 win at Santaim followed by a 10-0 home victory against Clatskanie. Junior Myleigh Cooper pitched both games, striking out 21 in nine innings.
Sheldon softball
The defending Class 6A state champion Irish got the season off to a roaring start, topping Thurston 16-0 at home and beating McNary 13-1 on the road. Senior Kinley Pappas went 6 for 6 in the two games, and senior Payton Burnham hit three home runs at McNary.
Sherwood softball
The Bowmen are 3-0, beating Roosevelt 15-0, Mountainside 6-0 and Bend 9-2. Junior catcher McKenna Parmelee hit a home run and drove in five in the win over the Roughriders. Junior Destiny Cornwell pitched a one-hit shutout against the Mavericks, striking out nine and walking none.
South Medford boys track and field
The Panthers turned in a dominant performance in winning the Panther Open, a four-team meet at South Medford High School. The Panthers triumphed with 166 points. Eagle Point was second with 46. Tanner Tuggle won the 200-meter dash and the 400, Kash Livdahl was victorious in the 110 high hurdles and 300 intermediate hurdles, and Mason Carroll ran to victory in the 1,500 and 3,000.
South Salem boys tennis
The Saxons opened their season by edging Cleveland 5-3 in a nonleague match at Cleveland High School. South Salem got a 6-1, 6-4 victory from Noah Leichty in No. 1 singles play and a 6-1, 6-1 win from its No. 1 doubles team of Alex Cunningham and Lucas Westfall.
Sprague baseball
The Olympias earned a 12-2 win over Cleveland and bested Grant 17-1 in season-opening nonleague games at Sprague High School. Junior catcher Boyd Messman hit three home runs in the win over the Generals.
Stayton boys tennis
The Eagles got off to a soaring start to the season, opening their schedule with nonleague victories against Valley Catholic, Silverton and Blanchet Catholic.
St. Mary’s (Medford) boys track and field
The Crusaders battled their way to first place at the 25th annual Crusader Relays at St. Mary’s High School. The host team took first place with 73 points. North Valley finished second with 59. Joel Kiene won the discus and shot put, and T.J. Flowers triumphed in the long jump and triple jump.
Taft baseball
The Tigers opened the season in a big way, getting a 10-0 win over Nestucca and a 14-4 victory against Neah-Kah-Nie in nonleague games at Taft High School. JJ McCormick had four hits, four runs and five RBIs in the two wins.
Tualatin baseball
The Timberwolves started their season by getting an 8-0 home win against Crescent Valley and triumphing 6-2 at Willamette in nonleague games. Junior outfielder Brayden Buck went 4 for 7 with two home runs in the victories.
Westview girls lacrosse
The Wildcats got off to a strong start to the season, beating Liberty 12-0 and Sunset 12-4 in games at Westview High School. Alice Buchard and Elise Mahlum each scored a total of five goals in their two victories.
Wilsonville boys lacrosse
The Wildcats opened their season by getting a 10-9 win over South Eugene and an 8-3 victory against Wells in nonleague games at Wilsonville High School.
