Bend girls swimming
The Lava Bears turned in a dominating performance in winning the title at the Class 5A state championships at the Tualatin Hills Aquatic Center in Beaverton. Bend took first place with 119 points, easily outdistancing second-place Canby, which had 48. Maddie Thornton triumphed in the 200-yard individual medley and 100 backstroke, and Kamryn Meskill sprinted to wins in the 50 and 100 freestyle events. Bend also got wins from Emma Bronson in the 100 butterfly, Hadley Hayes in the 100 breaststroke and from all three of its relay teams. (Read more about state swimming)
Canby wrestling
The Cougars clawed their way to the championship at the Northwest Oregon Conference district tournament at Wilsonville High School. Canby, with 478 points, easily bested second-place Hillsboro, which had 308. The Cougars had nine individual champions in Trey Smith (106 pounds), Jacob Young (113), Dean Williams (120), Craig Williams (126), Nico Yazzolino (132), Matthew Young (144), James Keinonen (175), Jackson Doman (215) and Paul Masingila (285). Crane girls basketball
The Mustangs earned a 61-40 win over Jordan Valley in the High Desert League tournament championship game at Grant Union High School to finish the regular season 25-0.
Dallas wrestling
The Dragons triumphed at the Mid-Willamette Conference district tournament at the Salem Armory Auditorium. The Dragons dominated with 500.5 points. West Albany was second with 280.5. The Dragons crowned seven individual champions in Carsen Atterbury (113 pounds), Joseph Johnson (120), Jose Romero (126), Tyler Basey (132), Blake Atterbury (144), Clifford Johnson (190) and Cole Langford (215). East Linn Christian boys basketball
The Eagles handed Oakland its first loss of the season, topping the Oakers 49-43 in the Valley Coast Conference tournament championship game at Sutherlin High School. East Linn Christian, which improved to 22-4, was led by Blake Knurowski’s 14 points.
Gervais boys basketball
The Cougars notched a 53-47 win over Kennedy in a Tri-River Conference playoff game to earn their first state playoff berth in the past 32 years. Senior Gotti Ramon led the way for Gervais with 13 points.
Jesuit boys swimming
The Crusaders edged Sunset to win the title at the Class 6A state championships at the Tualatin Hills Aquatic Center in Beaverton. Jesuit took first place with 93.5 points. The Apollos were second with 92. (Read more about state swimming)

La Grande girls wrestling
The Tigers powered their way to the championship at the Class 4A/3A/2A/1A Special District 1 tournament at Scappoose High School. La Grande claimed the top spot with 328 points. Crook County was second with 152.5. Kierstyn Azure (105 pounds), Maleigha Azure (125) and Kaitlin Brock (155) won individual titles. (Read more about district wrestling)
Lakeridge girls swimming
The Pacers claimed second place in the team standings at the Class 6A state championships at the Tualatin Hills Aquatic Center in Beaverton. Lakeridge had 97 points. Jesuit claimed the title with 107. The Pacers got victories from its 200-yard medley relay team of Zoe Chen, Rae Dodson, Helena Huettemeyer and Munroe Blem, and from Dodson in the 100 breaststroke. Liberty boys basketball
The Falcons posted a 74-51 home victory against McMinnville to clinch the Pacific Conference championship. With the win, its fifth in a row, Liberty improved to 11-0 in conference play and 19-4 overall. Senior guard Donovan Crowder scored 22 points.
McDaniel wrestling
The Mountain Lions climbed to the top, claiming the championship at the Portland Interscholastic League district tournament at Lincoln High School. McDaniel triumphed with 394 points. Grant placed second with 254.5. The Mountain Lions had three individual champions in Isaiah Snyder (120 pounds), Ethan Holstein (144) and Lucas McCall-Petke (215). Mountainside wrestling
The Mavericks, with 388 points, triumphed at the Metro League district tournament at Mountainside High School. Westview was second with 302.5. Mountainside crowned five individual champions in Joey Evanston (120 pounds), Ethan Stock (138), Payton Lawson (150), Isiah Conner (175) and Caleb Fogoros (215). (Read more about district wrestling)
Newberg wrestling
The Tigers turned in a dominating performance in winning the team title at the Pacific Conference district tournament at Forest Grove High School. Newberg took first place with 464 points. Forest Grove was second with 227.5. The Tigers crowned nine individual champions in Kiah Worthington (106 pounds), Sawyer Keinonen (120), Isaac Hampton (126), Gavin Rangel (132), Zachary Keinonen (138), Brandon Smith (144), Gus Amerson (150), Trae Frederick (157) and Luke Augustus (165). Newport boys swimming
The Cubs won the title at the Class 4A/3A/2A/1A state championships at the Tualatin Hills Aquatic Center in Beaverton. Newport finished first with 72 points. Catlin Gabel was second with 47. Sam Postlewait sprinted to victory in the 50- and 100-yard freestyle events, and Ben Hurty triumphed in the 100 backstroke for the Cubs, who also got wins from their 200 and 400 freestyle relay teams. Newport girls swimming
The Cubs triumphed at the Class 4A/3A/2A/1A state championships at the Tualatin Hills Aquatic Center in Beaverton. Newport claimed the title with 54 points, edging second-place La Grande, which had 43. The Cubs got wins from their 200-yard freestyle relay team of Ruby Perucci, Claire Hurty, Allison Pettett and Layla Bretz, and from their 400 freestyle relay team of Gwynn Postlewait, Hurty, Pia Lihou and Bretz. Redmond wrestling
The Panthers, with 385.5 points, tipped Mountain View, which scored 370, to win the championship at the Intermountain Conference district tournament at Mountain View High School. Redmond was led by seven individual champions in Kash Davis (113 pounds), Ryder Lee (120), Mason Thynes (126), Joseph Downing (150), Jared Ake (157), Orinn Hubbard (190) and Ashton Fields (285). Roseburg wrestling
Roseburg edged Grants Pass to claim the title at the Southwest Conference district tournament at Roseburg High School. Roseburg took first place with 378.5 points. The Cavemen were second with 346.5. The Pioneers found gold at the Mt. Hood Conference district tournament at David Douglas High School. Sandy took the top spot with 426 points. David Douglas was second with 297. The Pioneers had four individual champions in Mason Culp (138 pounds), Gage Culp (144), Soren Dyal (175) and Matthew Tammad (215). (Read more about district wrestling)
South Medford boys basketball
The Panthers recorded a 68-58 win over Grants Pass in a Southwest Conference game at South Medford High School to clinch their fourth consecutive conference championship. South Medford, which improved to 9-0 in conference play and 15-6 overall, got 31 points from senior guard Jackson Weiland.
South Medford girls basketball
The Panthers clinched the Southwest Conference championship by notching a 60-48 win over Willamette in a conference showdown at Willamette High School. With the win, its 15th in a row, South Medford improved to 10-0 in conference play and 19-3 overall. Sophomore guard Taylor Young had 23 points, six rebounds and five steals.
Sprague wrestling
The Olympians stood atop the podium at the Central Valley Conference district tournament at McNary High School. Sprague took first place with 386.5 points. South Salem was second with 304. The Olympians had six individual champions in Elijah Ezpeleta (106 pounds), Jonas Camillo (120), Camden Spragg (132), Andrey Cernev (144), Sullivan Puckett (150) and Jaxon Camillo (157). Sweet Home girls wrestling
The Huskies turned in a strong performance in triumphing at the Class 4A/3A/2A/1A Special District 2 tournament at Cottage Grove High School. Sweet Home had 208 points. Oakridge was the runner-up with 122. Riley Watkins at 120 pounds and Bailey Chafin at 125 claimed individual titles. (Read more about district wrestling)
Summit boys basketball
The Storm posted an 80-53 victory at Redmond to clinch the Intermountain Conference championship. Summit improved to 12-0 in conference play and 17-4 overall. Senior Pearson Carmichael led the way with 34 points.
Sunset boys swimming
The Apollos were a very close second at the Class 6A state championships at the Tualatin Hills Aquatic Center in Beaverton. Sunset had 92 points, putting it behind only Jesuit, which had 93.5. The Apollos team of Victor Krautsov, Nick Braun, Luca Ignatescu and Andrew Ignatescu won the 200-yard freestyle relay in a time of 1 minutes, 25.78 seconds, and the 400 freestyle relay team of Luca Ignatescu, Charlie Settle, Krautsov and Andrew Ignatescu triumphed in 3:06.09. Thurston wrestling
The Colts galloped to the championship at the Midwestern League district tournament at Eagle Point High School. Thurston claimed the crown with 468 points. Crater was second with 411.5. The Colts had three individual champions in Michael Salas Sanchez (106 pounds), Sean Regas (132) and Colton Annis (144). (Read more about district wrestling)
West Albany boys swimming
The Bulldogs claimed the championship at the Class 5A state meet at the Tualatin Hills Aquatic Center in Beaverton. West Albany had 76 points. Crescent Valley was second with 57. Conner Dickerson won the 50- and 100-yard freestyle events to lead the way for the Bulldogs, who also got victories from their 200 medley and 200 freestyle relay teams. West Linn wrestling
The Lions won the championship at the Three Rivers League district tournament at Lakeridge High School. West Linn took first place with 419.5 points. Oregon City was second with 285. The Lions crowned six individual champions in Colby Cook (120 pounds), Ryder Sprague (132), Oscar Doces (138), Mason Carnrite (150), Henry Dillingham (157) and Charles Spinning (165). Westside Christian girls basketball
The Eagles soared to a 56-50 win over Horizon Christian in the Lewis & Clark League championship game at Oregon Episcopal School. Westside Christian, which improved to 19-5, was led by junior Ava Mai, who had 21 points, nine rebounds and five assists.
