Elijah Rushing chooses Oregon: 5-star edge flips to Ducks after decommitting from Arizona

Salpointe Catholic (Arizona) senior, nation's No. 2 edge rusher, completes one of biggest flips in 2024

Five-star edge rusher Elijah Rushing committed to the Oregon Ducks on Monday, completing one of the biggest flips after decommitting from Arizona in early October.

The 6-foot-6, 225-pound Salpointe Catholic (Arizona) senior is the nation's No. 2 rated edge rusher, No. 14 overall prospect nationally, and top prospect in Arizona in 2024, according to 247 Sports.

Rushing didn't set a commitment date

Buzz immediately surrounded Rushing decommitted in early October. Especially since he did so after Ducks defensive coordinator Tosh Lupoi was seen in on the sidelines of a Salpointe Catholic game.

The Rushing-to-Oregon buzz only picked up in the ensuing weeks — until he made it official Monday morning.

Last week, Oregon recruits took to social media to lobby Rushing to bring his services to Eugene and head coach Dan Lanning.

Salpointe Catholic is 8-1 entering the final week of the regular season in Arizona and face Brophy College Prep Friday at 7 p.m.
