UIL 2022 Wrestling State Championships: 5A, 6A boys first round results, quarterfinal matchups

Round 1 results and quarterfinal matchups for 6A and 5A boys at the 2022 UIL Wrestling State Championship on Friday

CYPRESS, Texas — The Texas high school wrestling state championships began Friday morning at the Berry Center in Cypress, as 572 wrestlers representing hundreds of schools around the state started the final phase of their search for elusive team titles and 56 individual state championships.

The state’s top wrestlers hit the mats for first round and quarterfinal matches Friday, while the top performers advance to semifinal and state title matches beginning Saturday.
