Alabama quarterback Julian Sayin to enter transfer portal: Report

Sayin enrolled at Alabama in December, prior to Nick Saban's retirement

Julian Sayin, the nation's top quarterback in the 2024 recruiting class, is expected to enter the transfer portal, ESPN's Pete Thamel reported Friday.

Sayin graduated from Carlsbad High School at the semester and enrolled early at Alabama as the Crimson Tide prepared for their Rose Bowl Game appearance against Michigan.

Following the retirement of Nick Saban and hiring of Kalen DeBoer, many of Alabama's top players have entered their names in college football's transfer portal. That group includes standout freshmen Caleb Downs and Kadyn Proctor.

Sayin completed 76 percent of his passes as a senior, finishing with 24 touchdown passes and one interception. He was named California's Gatorade Player of the Year in addition to being named SBLive's San Diego Section Player of the Year.

He was named MVP of the Elite 11 quarterback competition prior to his final high school season.

Sayin committed to Alabama in November of his junior year. Other finalists included Georgia, LSU and Texas.

Bill O'Brien, who helped recruit Sayin to Alabama as the Crimson Tide's Offensive Coordinator, is now at Ohio State leading many to believe that the Buckeyes will be atop Sayin's list.
