Torrey Pines Holiday Classic: Scoring leaders, highlights from Day 2 (12/28/2023)
The 33rd Torrey Pines Holiday Classic boys’ basketball tournament continued Thursday at five high schools across San Diego County.
Here’s a recap of the top performers as well as the top scorers from the second round.
TOP PERFORMERS
Josh Green, Bishop O’Dowd – Green showed off his shooting ability in Thursday’s win over Our Lady of Good Counsel. The junior knocked down six three-pointers on his way to a team high 18 points.
Doryan Onwuchekwa, Faith Family – The Colorado-signee had 22 points including two second half three-pointers to push the Eagles past previously unbeaten JSerra.
Jake Hall, Carlsbad – Hall outdueled St. Mary’s guard Styles Phipps in Thursday’s quarterfinal, finishing with 38 points in an 82-81 win.
Matin Madadkar, Torrey Pines – The senior lefty had a career high 29 points in Thursday’s 71-54 win over O’Dea to help the Falcons get their first win over the tournament.
Jaden Bailes, St. Augustine – Bailes has had a breakout start to his sophomore season. On Thursday, he knocked down six three-pointers to help the Saints beat St. Francis Prep in the quarterfinal round.
