Two Missouri high school football players charged with murder in deadly shooting
Two St. Louis area teens were shot and killed on Monday afternoon and two high school seniors have been charged with second-degree murder.
Tyler Coleman, 19, and Zachary Hough, 18, were charged on Tuesday with two counts of second-degree murder, armed criminal action and delivery of less than 35 grams of marijuana, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, and were being held on cash-only bonds of $500,000.
Coleman and Hough are seniors at Oakville High School and members of the Oakville Tigers football team.
Hough was a wide receiver who accounted for 494 total yards and eight touchdowns last fall. Coleman played defensive back and recorded 31 tackles and one interception.
Coleman announced on his X (formerly Twitter) account on January 25 that he would be continuing his academic and athletic career at Missouri Baptist University.
Police told the Post-Dispatch on Tuesday that three teens were shot around 2 p.m. Monday as the teens tried to buy a cartridge that is used to vape marijuana from the suspects.
The teens who died were 15 and 16 years old. A third teenager who was shot was able to run and was taken to an area hospital for treatment, according to KSDK.com.
The television station reported Wednesday the third victim, whose name has not been released, was shot in the stomach and has underwent surgery.
