Oak Grove QB A.J. Maddox voted SBLive's Mississippi High School Athlete of the Week

The Warriors' quarterback was excellent when they needed him to be in a 45-44 overtime win over Madison-Ridgeland Academy

Congratulations to Oak Grove quarterback A.J. Maddox for winning the SBLive's Mississippi High School Athlete of the Week poll for the week of Sept. 11-17!

Maddox orchestrated a near-perfect offensive performance in a 45-44 overtime win over Madison-Ridgeland Academy, completing 24 of his 27 passes for 415 yards and four touchdowns.

His performance garnered 5,219 votes, representing roughly 66 percent of the nearly 8,000 votes cast by fans from across the Magnolia State. Heidelberg two-way star Julius Bradley finished second in the poll, earning 1,708 votes (21.5 percent).

Tyler Arrington, RB, Wingfield

Rushed 20 times for 230 yards and two touchdowns in a 30-20 win over Yazoo City.

Julius Bradley, RB/DB, Heidelberg

Rushed 22 times for 191 yards on offense and was credited with eight tackles, including one for a loss, and a forced fumble in a 34-30 win over Newton.

Junior Brown, RB, Long Beach

Rushed 22 times for 328 yards and five touchdowns in a 34-20 win over Purvis.

Epson Campbell, RB, Bay Springs

Rushed 22 times for 233 yards and two touchdowns in a 46-28 win over Philadelphia.

Zach Gulling, RB, Hancock

Rushed 25 times for 241 yards and brought in two receptions for 61 yards with four total touchdowns in a 46-7 win over Petal.

Keon Hutchins, WR, Union

Caught seven passes for 234 yards and four touchdowns and added a 68-yard kickoff return TD in a thrilling, 49-45 win over Newton County.

Will Smith, RB, Ocean Springs

Rushed 24 times for 134 yards and all five of the Greyhounds’ touchdowns in a 39-14 win over Natchez.

Tavares Wade, RB, Hattiesburg

Rushed 15 times for 250 yards and four touchdowns in a 53-28 win over Biloxi.

Jalen Washington, RB, Houston

Rushed 28 times for 200 yards and all three of the Hilltoppers’ touchdowns in a 21-12 win over Saltillo.
