ST. PAUL — The No. 4-seed Edina Hornets (24-6-1) defeated the No. 2-seed Hill-Murray Pioneers (26-4-1) 2-0 in the Class 2A Minnesota high school girls hockey state tournament championship on Saturday at Xcel Energy Center.

THIRD PERIOD UPDATES

Hill-Murray going empty net with 1:40 remaining.

GOAL EDINA! Lorelai Nelson dekes through multiple defenders to bury the puck in the top left corner. Edina 2, Hill-Murray 0 with 4:30 remaining.

Five minutes remain. 

GOAL EDINA! Whitney Horton scores on the power play. Lorelai Nelson and Kayla Starr with the assists. Edina 1, Hill-Murray 0 with 7:32 remaining.

Penalty on Hill-Murray. Regan Burgland called for slashing - 9:36 remaining.

Five minutes into the third period and it's the same as the other two. Neither offense able to sustain pressure. Game tied at 0.

SECOND PERIOD UPDATES

END OF SECOND PERIOD: Edina 0, Hill-Murray 0

Just under three minutes remain and both teams have played a fairly clean game so far. Hill-Murray with the only penalty so far. Game still tied at 0.

With seven minutes remaining in the period, Edina continues to put pucks on the net, but Hill-Murray goaltender Grace Zhan is keeping the hornets out. 

Edina with five shots on goal in the first five minutes of the period.

FIRST PERIOD UPDATES

END OF FIRST PERIOD: Edina 0, Hill-Murray 0. The Hornets had a 10-7 shots on goal advantage in the period. 

Six minutes remain in the period and neither team has been able to sustain pressure. Hill-Murray has the 7-4 shots on goal advantage.
