Muskegon football upsets Zeeland West

M'Khi Guy rushed for three touchdowns to give the Big reds the win

The No. 21 Muskegon Big Reds (5-2) defeated the No. 10 Zeeland West Dux (6-1) 22-16 Friday at Zeeland West High School.

The Big Reds led 7-0 after running back M'Khi Guy scored a 1-yard touchdown. Guy scored another touchdown from short yardage to give the Big Reds a 14-0 lead.

Zeeland West's Isaac VanderZwaag scored on a 1-yard run for a touchdown to cut into the lead. He also converted on a 2-point conversion to cut into the lead 14-8 entering halftime.

The Dux took the lead with six minutes remaining in the third quarter after quarterback Trenten Bolhouse ran in a 1-yard touchdown. Again, VanderZwaag converted the 2-point attempt for a 16-14 Zeeland West lead.

The Big Reds took the lead with a third touchdown run from Guy and a successful 2-point attempt to take a 22-16 lead. 

Muskegon's defense had an interception late in the fourth quarter to seal the win.
