Ferzell Shepard, Scotlandville boys track and field

Shepard placed first in the triple jump and third in the 400 meters at the LHSAA Indoor State Track & Field meet for the Division I champion Hornets, who scored 73 points. Scotlandville took gold in the 4 X 200 relay and silver in the 4 X 400. The 6-foot-2, 175-pound junior is a receiver prospect in football. He holds a scholarship offer from Texas Tech, which signed John Curtis Christian football/track athlete Justin Horne.

Makeriah Harris, Scotlandville girls track and field

The Lady Hornets took first place at the LHSAA Indoor meet, scoring 75 points ahead of St. Joseph's Academy's 59. Harris won the 60-meter dash and took third in the 60-meter hurdles. The Lady Hornets won the 4 X 200 and 4 X 400 relay and placed second in the 4 X 800.

Herman Batiste, East Feliciana boys track and field

Batiste won the high jump and the 60-meter hurdles and took second in the long jump at the Division II state meet for the Tigers, who finished in fourth place with 29 points.

Aiden Monistere, Parkview Baptist boys track and field

Monistere won both the 1,600 meters and the 3,200 meters at the Division II state meet for the Eagles, who finished third with 37 points.

A'Shyria Burns, Holy Savior Menard girls track and field

Burns placed first in the long jump and triple jump for the Lady Eagles, who won the Division II state meet with 50 points. She also won the 60-meter hurdles and was third in the 60-meter dash.

Andrew Gardner, St. Thomas More boys basketball

The Cougars are sitting at No. 1 in the Division I select bracket and are No. 1 in the SBLive Louisiana Top 25. Gardner, one of several seniors on coach Danny Broussard's roster, scored 12 points in a win over Lafayette Christian and 15 in the regular season finale, a 69-62 win over city rival Teurlings Catholic at the second edition this season of Brad Boyd's Cajundome Classic.

Randy Livingston Jr., Isidore Newman boys basketball

The Greenies and Livingston, a sophomore guard, have been on a tear lately, winning 10 games in a row as the defending champions prepare for the Division III select playoffs. Livingston had 18 points, six assists and two steals in the District 10-2A championship game victory over Metairie Park Country Day.

Allen Graves, Ponchatoula boys basketball

The Green Wave is playing as well or better than anyone across all 10 divisions. The reigning Division I non-select state champions tuned up for the playoffs with an impressive 88-59 win over George Washington Carver. It was the 10th straight win for the 26-4 Wave, which entered the playoffs as a No. 2 seed. Graves is a 6-foot-10 Santa Clara signee.

Marquise McPipe, Liberty Magnet boys basketball

McPipe scored 18 points with nine rebounds, three steals and two assists in the Patriots' 57-36 win over Zachary in a district clash of two of the state's best teams. Liberty (22-3) is seeded second in the Division I select bracket.

Levion Owens, Carroll boys basketball

Owens pumped in 16 of his 34 points in the first quarter as the Bulldogs downed Wossman, 78-67, to win their second consecutive district title. No. 3 Carroll (25-8) is seeking a return to the state title game after finishing as the Division II non-select runner-up last season.

Margaret Oge, St. Thomas More softball

The sophomore pitcher threw a complete game no-hitter with 12 strikeouts in a 10-0 win over Hahnville. The defending state champion Lady Cougars are 3-0 this season and No. 2 in the Division I select power ratings.

Laney Dobrow, Haughton softball

The Lady Bucs defeated Lakeside, 9-8, in the season opener. Dobrow, a junior catcher, hit a two-run homer to the opposite field and collected an RBI single.

Zoey Fitts, Montgomery softball

The 2023 Division IV non-select runner-up Lady Tigers are off to a 4-1 start to the season. Fitts, a junior shortstop/utility player, went 5-for-9 at the Logansport Tournament as the Lady Tigers defeated Stanley, Evangel Christian and Southwood.by a combined score of 35-4.

Aubrey Delatte, Ascension Catholic softball

Delatte, a junior, delivered five home runs last week for the Lady Bulldogs, who began the year 3-2 with wins over Holden, Brusly and South Terrebonne and narrow losses to Class 5A Ponchatoula (10-7) and Hahnville (12-11).

Raegan Henderson, North DeSoto softball

The junior slammed three home runs in one day in victories over Pineville and West Ouachita. The reigning Division II non-select state champions are 5-0 and No. 1 in the power ratings.

Kynzee Anderson, Calvary Baptist softball

The junior pitcher, who is already a three-time state champion, helped her team to a 4-0 start against tough competition. Anderson threw 17 innings with 34 strikeouts and allowed no earned runs as the Lady Cavs defeated Pineville, Sam Houston, John Curtis Christian and Barbe.

Katelyn Madrigal, Bunkie softball

The senior twirled a complete game two-hitter with 10 strikeouts in a 4-1 win over Oakdale for the Lady Panthers, who are 3-1 and No. 8 in the Division II select power ratings.

Avery Creech, Logansport softball

Creech hit a home run and was the winning pitcher in the Lady Tigers' 20-5 rout of Captain Shreve. Logansport is 4-0, No. 1 in the Division IV non-select power ratings and has won its last three games by a combined score of 42-6.

Addie LeBlanc, Vidalia softball

LeBlanc, a senior, tossed a two-hit shutout with 10 strikeouts in her team's 6-0 win over cross-town rival Delta Charter. LeBlanc helped herself at the plate with two hits in the 6-0 win for the Division III non-select No. 15 Lady Vikings (2-2).

Emma Jackson, Hahnville softball

The Lady Tigers defeated Ascension Catholic, 12-11, as Jackson had four RBIs in the come-from-behind win with a three-run homer. Hahnville has won two straight games since opening with losses to perennial powers St. Amant and St. Thomas More.

Brynn Arena, St. Joseph's Academy softball

The Millsaps College commit went 3-for-4 with two doubles, three walks and six runs scored in wins over Berwick and St. John. The Redstickers are 3-0 and No. 3 in the Division I select power ratings.

Abby Froelich, Dutchtown softball

Froelich was the winning pitcher in her team's 6-3 win over Class 3A power Doyle. The junior scattered five hits over seven innings with two earned runs and four strikeouts. 58 of her 89 pitches were strikes. Dutchtown is 4-0 and No. 7 in the Division I non-select power ratings.

Lilli St. Germain, Catholic-Pointe Coupee softball

The junior smacked back-to-back home runs as the Lady Hornets defeated Port Barre and Cecilia in a tournament. Catholic PC, the 2023 Division IV select runner-up, is 4-0 and No. 2 in the power ratings.

Gracey Hebert, John Curtis Christian softball

The 12-time state champion Lady Patriots are loaded for years to come. Hebert, an eighth-grader, provided two hits while cracking the starting lineup in the first game of the season, a 14-4 win over Archbishop Hannan.

Amiyah Wilson, Alexandria softball

The freshman went 5-for-7 with five RBIs, three runs scored, a walk and an intentional walk as the Lady Trojans split games with David Thibodaux and Grace Christian.

Julie Stevens/Kamryn Eaton, Central-Baton Rouge softball

The pair of sluggers each blasted two home runs as the Lady Cats split games with Port Barre and Archbishop Hannan. The two seniors are members of the Louisiana Blazers Elite 18-U team.
