Here are the candidates for SBLive's Indiana High School Athlete of the Week as nominated by fans, readers and SBLive’s staff.

Olivia Bailey, Rochester girls golf

Bailey shot an even-par 72 to earn medalist honors in the Lake Central Regional.

Liam Bauschke, Mishawaka boys cross country

Bauschke won the boys open race at the Culver Academies Invitational, running 15:24.2 for 5,000 meters.

Owen Bell, Sheridan football

In a 56-6 victory over Taylor, the junior completed six of seven passes for 162 yards and three touchdowns. He also added 35 yards and a TD on the ground.

Tyler Cherry, Center Grove football

The senior completed 16 of 24 passes for 211 yards and two touchdowns in a 31-7 win over Lawrence Central.

Bodie Derrer, Hamilton Heights football

The senior completed 16 of 21 passes for 223 yards and two touchdowns to go along with a rushing touchdown in a 45-0 shutout of Twin Lakes.

Trey Dobson, Greenwood Christian football

The sophomore completed four of seven passes for 143 yards and three touchdowns, rushed for 199 yards and a touchdown, and added a punt return for a touchdown during a 57-18 victory against Farmersburg North Central.

Jake Dunn, Brownsburg football

The senior threw for 149 yards and two scores and added 57 yards and two touchdowns on the ground in a 37-7 win over Westfield.

Chloe Fouts, Carmel girls soccer

The senior goalkeeper made six saves over two games as the Greyhounds tied Noblesville 1-1 and beat Zionsville 1-0 to remain undefeated at 12-0-3. Fouts' shutout vs. Zionsville was her 10th of the season.

Hudson Fox, Bremen boys soccer

Fox had four assists in an 8-0 shutout of Argos that pushed his program-record career total to 47.

Janel Garcia, Hamilton Southeastern girls golf

Garcia shot a 70 to win medalist honors and pace Hamilton Southeastern to the Lapel Regional team title.

Maverick Geske, Brebeuf football

In a 39-23 victory over Roncalli, the junior threw for 433 yards and six touchdowns.

Paige Giovenco, Floyd Central girls golf

Giovenco shot a 1-over 73 and won a four-way playoff for the Franklin Community Regional title.

Bennett Gorak, Fishers football

The senior threw for 253 yards and three touchdowns in a 21-13 victory over Avon.

Thomas Gostkowski, Ben Davis football

The senior threw for six touchdowns and added another score on the ground during a 62-14 win over Lawrence North.

Jonny Hall, Indianapolis Lutheran football

The senior scored three times in a 42-14 win over Scecina. He rushed for 55 yards and two touchdowns and also caught a 2-yard touchdown pass.

Donovan Hamilton, Hamilton Southeastern football

In a 34-24 win over Zionsville, the senior caught eight passes for 229 yards and three touchdowns.

Jessica Hegedus, Avon girls cross country

Hegedus ran a meet- and course-record 17:40.48 for 5,000 meters to win the Hoosier Crossroads Conference Meet.

Matthew Kim, Fishers boys cross country

Kim edged teammate Sam Quagliaroli by five-hundredths of a second to win the Hoosier Crossroads Conference Meet in a meet- and course-record 15:04.23 for 5,000 meters.

Ashley Kirkland, Castle girls golf

Kirkland won the Washington Regional title by five strokes, shooting a 73.

Emery Newlin, Monrovia girls soccer

The high-scoring junior midfielder scored 10 goals and added three assists in two Bulldogs' wins – against Greencastle and Triton Central. Newlin has 41 goals in 12 games after scoring 38 a year ago. 

Brandon Potter, Western Boone football

In a 49-0 shutout against Frankfort, the junior completed two passes for 25 yards and two touchdowns and added 39 yards and a score on the ground.

Brock Riddle, Greenwood football

The senior threw for 298 yards and four touchdowns and ran for 42 yards and a score in a 44-41 victory over Perry Meridian.

Jalen Sauer, Indian Creek football

The senior threw for 294 yards and five touchdowns during a 44-25 victory over Edgewood.

Scarlet Senk, Homestead girls golf

Senk shot a 68 to earn medalist honors and lead Homestead to the team title at the East Noble Regional.

Jace Stuckey, Triton Central football

The Eastern Michigan commit threw for 182 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for another score in just one half during a 48-14 victory over Indianapolis Ritter.

Claire Swathwood, Carmel girls golf

Swathwood shot a 73 to win the individual title at the Lafayette Jefferson Regional and lead the Greyhounds to the team championship.

Grayson Thomas, New Palestine football

In a 21-14 victory over Greenfield-Central, the senior finished with 29 carries for 184 yards and two touchdowns.

Norvil Tucker, Carmel football

In a 27-6 victory over Indianapolis North Central, the senior rushed 12 times for 141 yards and three touchdowns.

Tatum Wade, Union Mills South Central girls volleyball

Wade had 62 kills and 37 digs in wins over Marquette and Illiana Christian.

Carter Ward, Danville football

In a 42-21 victory over Southmont, the freshman threw for 258 yards and five touchdowns.

Nolan Whitehead, Park Tudor football

The senior had a 25-yard touchdown run, a 19-yard reception, and recovered a fumble and returned it 58 yards for a touchdown in a 55-7 win over Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian.


Hanover Central's Caiden Verrett voted SBLive's Indiana High School Athlete of the Week (Sept. 11-17)

Congratulations to Hanover Central's Caiden Verrett, who was voted the SBLive Indiana high school Athlete of the Week for Sept. 11-17. He received more than 57 percent of the votes.

Verrett, a junior, rushed 11 times for 159 yards and three touchdowns over three quarters in a 47-7 Northwest Crossroads Conference win against Kankakee Valley.

Ben Davis football player Mark Zackery IV finished second in the voting after receiving more than 18 percent of the votes.
