The top six teams hold steady to their spots, led by Curie, Homewood-Flossmoor and Thornton, while Rich and York move into the top 25 this week.

Here is our breakdown of this week's SB Live Power 25 Illinois high school boys basketball rankings (records through Jan. 18):

1. Curie (18-1)

Previous rank: 1

Will Gonzalez scored 15 points and Carlos Harris III had a double-double of 13 points and 10 assists (plus eight rebounds) in an 86-44 win over Englewood.

2. Homewood-Flossmoor (17-1)

Previous rank: 2

Gianni Cobb had 20 points, five assists and four steals in a 71-58 win against Romeoville, and Carson Brownfield added a double-double (13 points, 10 rebounds) with six assists. The Vikings also beat Stagg 67-51.

3. Thornton (16-2)

Previous rank: 3

Illinois recruit Morez Johnson scored a career-high 30 points with 17 rebounds, six blocks and three assists in a 67-60 win against Niles North. He had another double-double (15 points, 12 rebounds) in a 68-42 victory vs. Thornwood, and Meyoh Swansey finished with a season-high 25 points and eight rebounds.

4. Mount Carmel (20-2)

Northwestern recruit Angelo Ciaravino scored 24 and Tre Marks had 17 points in a win vs. Glenbrook North, 67-58. The Caravan also beat Marmion 62-50 as Grant Best scored 17.

5. Benet (15-2)

The Redwings were idled by the weather and are back in action this weekend.

6. Metamora (16-4)

Previous rank: 6

The Redbirds were 3-0 over the MLK weekend, beating Dunlap 68-46, Eastside (N.J.) 67-50 and Hinsdale South 70-55.

7. Waubonsie Valley (18-0)

Previous rank: 9

The Warriors remained the Chicago area's last unbeaten big school with three wins at Wheaton-Warrenville South over the MLK weekend: 68-29 over Plainfield Central, 40-38 against downstate power Normal and 57-43 vs. Carmel. Tyreek Coleman scored 18 points against Normal, including the decisive basket with 38 seconds left.

8. DePaul Prep (17-1)

The Rams were another team whose schedule was scrambled by the wintry weather, postponing a couple games.

9. Quincy (17-1)

Previous rank: 10

The Blue Devils knocked off Lincoln 48-31 after leading 40-16 through three quarters.

10. Brother Rice (19-2)

Previous rank: 11

The Crusaders beat Marist 65-47 in the Battle of Pulaski as Zavier Fitch put up a double-double of 19 points and 15 rebounds.

11. Bloom (12-5)

Previous rank: 12

Payton Edwards hit a game-winning 3-pointer with 1.7 seconds left in a 53-52 win vs. St. Laurence. The Blazing Trojans also rolled by Thornridge 81-46 behind Elijah Lovemore's fourth triple-double of the season (11 points, 12 rebounds, 12 assists) and Santana Flowers' double-double of 11 points and 11 rebounds.

12. Warren (19-3)

The Blue Devils bounced back from a two-game losing streak, winning twice in New York over the MLK weekend (60-47 vs. Poughkeepsie and 52-46 vs. North Rockland) and beating Zion-Benton 86-47.

13. Bolingbrook (15-3)

Previous rank: 15

KJ Cathey scored 16 as the Raiders beat Downers Grove South 63-49.

14. New Trier (18-3)

Previous rank: 21

The Trevians defeated Kenwood 59-49 behind sophomore Chris Kirkpatrick's 21 points and rolled by Maine South 59-38.

15. Kenwood (13-6)

Previous rank: 14

After falling 59-49 to New Trier, the Broncos beat neighborhood rival Hyde Park 64-51 behind double-doubles from Jaden Smith (12 points, 12 rebounds) and Chris Riddle (12 points, 11 rebounds).

16. Collinsville (20-2)

Previous rank: 16

The Kahoks beat a pair of Missouri teams, knocking off Vianney 71-56 and Lift for Life 76-44.

17. Downers Grove North (16-3)

Previous rank: 17

The Trojans beat downstate power Normal 40-35 as four players scored at least eight points.

18. Kankakee (14-2)

Previous rank: 18

Sophomore Lincoln Williams had a double-double of 21 points and 10 rebounds in a 60-37 win against Stagg.

19. Normal (18-3)

Previous rank: 7

In a busy stretch, the Ironmen beat Peoria Richwoods 57-49 and Rockford East 75-56, lost 40-38 to unbeaten Waubonsie Valley, downed Glenbard North 64-51 and fell 40-35 to Downers Grove North.

20. Glenbrook North (15-4)

Previous rank: 20

The Spartans lost 67-58 to Mount Carmel despite Josh Fridman's 22 points.

21. Rich Township (14-4)

Previous rank: NR

The Raptors are yet another Southland power along with Thornton, Bloom and Kankakee. They've won five in a row and their only in-state losses were to Thornton in overtime and against Homewood-Flossmoor.

22. York (16-3)

Previous rank: NR

The Dukes are 13-1 since a 2-2 start, with the lone loss coming against Bolingbrook.

23. Neuqua Valley (15-4)

Previous rank: 25

The Wildcats had a pair of wins at Burlington Central's MLK event, 66-53 over Lyons and 80-32 against Woodstock North.

24. Centralia (20-1)

Previous rank: 22

The Orphans suffered their first loss of the season, 48-43 vs. Mt. Vernon, before coasting past Sumner (Mo.) 74-20 and beating Effingham 77-37.

25. Marist (16-4)

Previous rank: 23

Darshan Thomas had a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds, but the RedHawks lost 65-47 to Brother Rice in the Battle of Pulaski.
