The sixth week of the Georgia high school football season is in the books.

Now it’s time to voice your opinion on which player should be named SBLive’s North Georgia high school football defensive player of the week.



Wheeler junior Kobe McInnis was voted last week's SBLive North Georgia Defensive Player of the Week. McInnis made six tackles, including three sacks and four tackles for loss, against North Atlanta.

Read up on this week's six candidates below and let us know your pick. Voting will conclude on Saturday, September 30th at 11:59 p.m. The winner will be announced in next week’s poll.

Carter Barrett, Habersham Central: The senior safety made a whopping 21 total tackles for the Raiders in a loss to Lanier.

Jacob Daley, North Murray: Daley was everywhere for the Mountaineers defense in a 28-16 win against Haralson County. The sophomore finished with a total of 24 tackles, including one tackle for loss.

Cole Funderburk, North Gwinnett: One of the best defensive players in Georgia this season, the junior continued his standout year with four sacks and two forced fumbles in a 48-7 win against Berkmar.

D’Marzavion Gates, Lithia Springs: Gates came up with multiple big plays in the Lions’ 28-18 win against Maynard Jackson. The senior finished with 16 tackles and one interception.

Trent McWhorter, Alpharetta: The senior made play after play for the Raiders in a win over Pope. McWhorter forced two fumbles and recorded 13 tackles, including two tackles for loss.

AJ Pigford, South Gwinnett: Pigford tallied 10 tackles, including one sack and three tackles for loss, in a loss to Norcross.
