The fifth week of the Georgia high school football season is in the books.

Now it’s time to voice your opinion on which player should be named SBLive’s North Georgia Defensive Player of the Week.


North Georgia Defensive Player of the Week

Maynard Jackson senior Messiah Scandrett was voted last week's SBLive North Georgia Defensive Player of the Week. Scandrett had seven tackles, one sack, one pass breakup and one recovered fumble in a win over Lithonia.

Read up on this week's six candidates below and let us know your pick. Voting will conclude on Saturday, September 23rd at 11:59 p.m. The winner will be announced in next week’s poll.

Dawson Childs, Stephens County: Childs stuffed the stat sheet in a 56-26 win against White County. The senior totaled seven tackles, including four sacks and five tackles for loss.

Melvin Emioma, Kennesaw Mountain: Emioma wreaked havoc for the Mustangs in a loss to undefeated Harrison. The senior finished with six tackles, including three tackles for loss and one sack.

Durius Harris, Hiram: Harris locked down receivers in a 43-6 win over Hiram. In addition to returning an interception for a touchdown, the sophomore broke up two passes and made three tackles.

Kobe McInnis, Wheeler: McInnis placed himself among the state’s sack leaders this season with a big night against North Atlanta. The junior made six tackles, including three sacks and four tackles for loss.

Quavion Pitts, Langston Hughes: Pitts had a sack in each of the Panthers’ first three games, and he kept the streak alive last week. He finished with five tackles, including one sack and one tackle for loss.

Taysean Wilson, Peachtree Ridge: Wilson was a playmaker on defense in the Lions’ 39-7 victory against Berkmar. The senior made six tackles, including one tackle for loss, and caused a safety.
