The fifth week of the Georgia high school football season is in the books.

Now it’s time to voice your opinion on which player should be named SBLive’s Middle Georgia Defensive Player of the Week.


Middle-GA-Def

Jones County junior DJ Ingram was voted last week's SBLive Middle Georgia Defensive Player of the Week. Ingram had two sacks and two tackles for loss as part of his six tackles against Peach County.

Read up on this week's six candidates below and let us know your pick. Voting will conclude on Saturday, September 23rd at 11:59 p.m. The winner will be announced in next week’s poll.

Josh Anderson, East Coweta: Anderson was a tackling machine for East Coweta in its 42-30 win over Lowndes. The senior racked up 18 tackles, with 13 of them being solo tackles.

Rinaldo Callaway, Southwest-Macon: Callaway continued his strong sophomore campaign in a 40-0 victory over Jordan. He finished with six tackles, including three tackles for loss and two sacks. He also caused two fumbles.

Jordan Jones, Thomson: Jones lived in the backfield during Thomson’s 28-14 win against Laney. The junior totaled nine tackles, including three tackles for loss and assisting on a sack.

Zach Proffitt, McIntosh: Proffitt made the most of his playing time in McIntosh’s 67-point win over Landmark Christian. In one quarter, the junior totaled five tackles, including two tackles for loss and one sack, and he recovered a fumble.

Shakur Simpson, McIntosh: Simpson had a night to remember in the Chiefs’ 67-0 win over Landmark Christian. The junior intercepted two passes, returning one for a touchdown, and made a tackle for loss.

Jaden Wuerth, Aquinas: The freshman played out of his mind in a 47-42 loss to Harlem. Wuerth tallied 13 tackles, including three sacks and four tackles for loss.
