District tournament action dominated the week, and many of the South Florida powerhouse schools – like Columbus and Riviera Prep – are advancing.

But they aren’t the only ones. Western, Sagemont and St. Thomas are among the schools to claim district titles.

Overall, many of the top players came through when it mattered most, and SBLive Sports Florida has been following the action.

Now, it’s time to recognize the top performers in our South Florida boys’ basketball Player of the Week poll.

As a reminder, our polls are intended to be fun, while providing recognition to players and programs throughout the area.

Here are this week's nominees:

Jakeel Baker, G, Miami Northwestern: Baker stepped up in district tournament play. In the Bulls’ 63-48 win over Belen Jesuit, the guard had 26 points. Baker also added nine assists, five rebounds and two steals in a win over South Miami.

Tahir Bond, G, Coral Glades: A 6-foot-3 senior, Bond had a huge game for the Jaguars in a 52-50 district loss to Western. Bond scored 29 points, while adding six rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Cameron Boozer, F, Columbus: The 6-foot-9 sensation is dominating in district play. The junior posted 23 points and 15 rebounds in the Explorers’ 89-47 rout of Coral Gables. And in the district final, a win over Miami High, Boozer added 21 points and 10 rebounds.

Enrico Borio, W, North Broward Prep: Along with being one of the top players on a powerhouse North Broward Prep team, Borio recently was selected to participate in the Basketball Beyond Borders Camp. The 6-foot-8 senior is averaging close to 13 points and more than seven rebounds per game.

Alex Constanza, F, Westminster Academy: The Lions are getting major contributions from a lot of players. Their 81-60 blowout win against Chaminade-Madonna showed that with Constanza scoring 26 points while pulling down 10 rebounds.

Absalon Cortes, G, Miami High: The Stingarees may have lost big to Columbus in their district championship, but that didn’t diminish the stellar performance of Cortes. The junior scored 32 points, with four rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Jerrel Dailey, G, South Plantation: A 6-foot-1 guard, Dailey enjoyed a 16-point performance in South Plantation’s dominating win against Nova, with three rebounds and two assists.

Maddox Fowles, F, Western: In the Wildcats’ 52-50 win over Coral Glades, Fowles scored 18 points and finished with 10 rebounds.

Joseph Jean, G, Miami High: In the Class 7A-District 16 semifinals, Jean, a 6-foot-5 guard dropped 26 points and collected 16 rebounds in Miami High’s impressive 72-49 win over Palmetto. Earlier in district play, Jean had 22 points against South Dade.

Patrick Liburd, G/F, Sagemont: Sagemont won the Class 2A-District 15 title, beating Dade Christian by 32 points. Liburd paced the way with 15 points, seven rebounds and four assists.

Alexander Lloyd, G, Westminster Academy: In district play, Lloyd was red hot from the floor, converting 11 of 13 shots from the floor and finished with 30 points in the Lions’ 81-60 win over Chaminade-Madonna.

Reece Randolph, G, Hialeah Educational Academy: Randolph had a performance to remember in the Biggie’s lopsided win against Ransom Everglades. The guard scored 40 points, converting nine 3-point shots.

Fernando Romero, G, Riviera Prep: A sophomore guard, Romero celebrated a 21-point performance in the Bulldogs’ blowout of Marathon in district play.

Drake Sandi, G, St. Thomas Aquinas: The Raiders won the Class 6A-District 14 tournament with a 51-35 victory against Plantation. In the low-scoring affair, Sandi scored 13 points with four rebounds, one assist and two steals. Sandi also added a team-high 15 points earlier in the week in a 56-46 win over Dillard.

Jacob Trenchfield, G, Monsignor Pace: The Spartans claimed the Class 4A-District 15 title with a 63-59 win against Booker T. Washington. Trenchfield topped the Spartans in scoring with 15 points, four assists and three steals.
