FORT MYERS - Wes Mendes pitched 6 2/3 scoreless innings to lead Jesuit (Tampa) to a 6-0 victory over Eau Gallie in the Florida (FHSAA) Class 5A baseball state championship game on Saturday at Hammond Stadium.
Mendes, a Vanderbilt commit, struck out 11, walked three and allowed just three hits. He also helped himself at the plate with an RBI.
Grant Jordan went 2-for-3 for Jesuit and Josh Hines and AJ Nessler each drove in two runs.
Daniel Snowden went 2-for-2 for Eau Gallie.
It's the sixth baseball state championship in school history for Jesuit.
