Harvard-Westlake's Valentina Guerrero is SBLive Southern California Athlete of the Week (3/18/2024)
Valentina Guerrero was a model of consistency throughout the 2023-24 season.
The sophomore forward and center for Harvard-Westlake's girls basketball team recorded seven double-doubles while averaging 11.4 points and 7.9 rebounds per game.
Her biggest double-double was delivered in her team's biggest game, a 60-45 win over Colfax in the CIF State Division 3 championship game March 9 at the Golden 1 Center.
Guerrero had 12 points and 12 rebounds as the Wolverines won their second state title.
Her big game landed Guerrero on the SBLive performance list, where her number's really grew.
She garnered 82.8% of the fan vote, earning her the SBLive Athlete of the Week.
During her superb season, Guerrero had seasons high of 22 points and 16 rebounds.

Jayla Stokes, Bishop O'Dowd: Stokes led O'Dowd with 11 points and had six rebounds in the loss to Bishop Montgomery.
Aakash Price, Grossmont: Price had eight points, eight rebounds and six steals in a loss to St. Bernard's.
Angelina Habis, Harvard-Westlake: Habis had 19 points, seven rebounds and three steals against Colfax.
Deana Thompson, Harvard-Westlake: Thompson had 18 points, six rebounds, four assists and four steals to beat Colfax.
Valentina Guerrero, Harvard-Westlake: Guerrero had a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds to become state champions.
Aliyahna “Puff’ Morris, Etiwanda: Morris led Etiwanda with 20 points and five assists to repeat as Open Division state champions.
Kennedy Smith, Etiwanda: Smith contributed across the board for Etiwanda, finishing with 15 points, five rebounds, four blocks, two assists and two steals.
Michael Lindsay, Alemany: Lindsay, who will play football at Idaho State next season, had 25 points (9-15) and grabbed down five rebounds against Santa Cruz.
Jabez Agustin, Verdugo Hills: Agustin finished with 15 points in a loss to Athenian, knocking down five of his 11 3-point attempts.
Brandon McCoy, St. John Bosco: McCoy, the nation's top sophomore recruit according to 247Sports, had 18 points on 8-11 shooting and led the Braves with eight rebounds in the victory.
Jack Turner, St. John Bosco: Turner, a Loyola Chicago-signee, led the Braves with 20 points, adding four rebounds and four assists.
Alijah Arenas, Chatsworth: Arenas scored 44 points, becoming only the second boys basketball player to surpass 40 points in a CIF State championship game.
Trent Perry, Harvard-Westlake: Perry stepped up late, finishing with 17 points four rebounds and two blocks to repeat as a state champion.
Robert Hinton, Harvard-Westlake: Hinton finished with a game-high 19 points, shooting seven of eight from the field.
