Mission League basketball tournament schedule, format, information
NOTE: Schedule at the bottom has been updated daily with scores.
The Mission League will host its boys basketball end-of-year tournament this week, starting Monday, Jan. 29 and the final is set for Friday.
The league has a fun, interesting format that feels like a college schedule compared to a traditional high school schedule that usually requires each team to play each other twice before the team atop the standings is named the league champion.
In the Mission League, each team plays each other just once. Those results determine the seedings for the end-of-year tournament, similar to a conference tournament in college basketball.
The results of the tournament determine the champion and final league placement, which helps to also determine playoff placement for the postseason. The top four teams will earn an automatic playoff berth. The No. 1 and 2 seeds earn an automatic berth to the league tournament semifinals, meaning their top four placement (and playoff berth) is secure.
The CIF Southern Section will announce the boys and girls basketball playoff pairings on Sunday, Feb. 4 at noon. Be sure to check ScorebookLive.com for all the brackets.
