California high school football recruiting notebook: USC adds five-star Brandon Lockhart

USC has commitments from two of the nation's best players in the class of 2026

USC adding in 2026

The USC Trojans picked up an important commitment last week from Loyola High School defensive back Brandon Lockhart. The nation's top-ranked cornerback in the class of 2026, Lockhart chose the Trojans over Oregon and Penn State.

He totaled 32 tackles, an interception and five pass break ups during the regular season. Lockhart is the third commitment for USC in the class of 2026, joining Los Alamitos receiver Ja'Myron Baker and Carrollton, Georgia quarterback Julian Lewis who is the top-ranked player regardless of position.

The Trojans could soon be adding another top recruit to that class. SBLive's Director of Recruiting Andrew Nemec recently predicted that Sierra Canyon defensive back Madden Riordan will soon join the mix.

Husan Longstreet cuts to eight

Class of 2025 four-star quarterback Husan Longstreet transferred to Corona Centennial from Inglewood prior to the 2023 season and has quickly made his mark with the Huskies. He tossed 20 touchdown passes and scored seven times on the ground during an 8-2 regular season that included losses to national powers Mater Dei and Bishop Gorman.

Longstreet, who visited Washington to see the Huskies take down Oregon last month, continues to progress closer to a commitment.

On Wednesday, he cut his list of schools to eight - Florida State, Louisville, Miami, Michigan, Ole Miss, Oregon, UCLA and Washington.
