Aquinas' Jordan Brusig voted SBLive's California Football Coach of the Week by fans (11/2/2023)

In Week Nine, Aquinas pulled out a historic win over Ontario Christian

Even if you took away 22 playoff victories, three CIF Southern Section titles, and two regional titles/state finals appearances, Aquinas would still have a remarkable resumé under ninth-year head coach Jordan Brusig.

With a convincing 50-30 win over Ontario Christian on Oct. 19, the Falcons wrapped up their sixth unbeaten league title run in a row – excluding the shortened 2020-21 season, in which they didn't compete in a league race.

Aquinas has now won 32 straight league games dating back to 2016, possessing one of the most impressive conference title streaks in Southern California.

And that comes despite the continued emergence of Ontario Christian as one of the strongest foes that Aquinas has needed to defeat in league play.

This year, Ontario Christian entered the matchup 7-1, ranked in very close proximity to the Falcons by CalPreps. And Aquinas stepped up to the plate by scoring the first 30 points of the game, leading 30-0 at halftime and cruising to a 50-30 win.

Hayden Slegers completed 20 of 31 passes for 249 yards and three touchdowns, and ran for 58 yards. Marquis Bradley was his top target, catching 11 passes for 152 yards, two touchdowns, and a conversion, and also recording 79 kick return yards.

For the Falcons' marquee win of the regular season, fans voted Brusig as SBLive's California Football Coach of the Week for Week Nine. With 2,042 votes, Brusig earned 74.6-percent of the vote.

Doug Longero of Las Lomas came in second place with 532 votes for the Knights' historic 45-42 win over Campolindo.

Aquinas begins its quest for yet more postseason glory on Friday at Foothill (Santa Ana) in the first round of the CIFSS Division 5 playoffs.
