Riverside Poly junior Miranda De Nava is SBLive's Southern California Athlete of the Week (April 24-30)

Third-year varsity softball player just misses out on no-hitter with 13 strikeouts, but she doesn't miss on coveted weekly award.

She may have missed out on a no-hitter, but Miranda De Nava didn't miss another big opportunity. 

The junior pitcher and hitter for the Riverside Poly softball team threw a one-hitter with 13 strikeouts during a 1-0 win over Valley View on April 24. She walked just two batters and recorded the win thanks to an RBI single from Corina Jaimes. 

The victory upped her record to 19-1 and after a 5-1 win over South on May 2, she is now 20-1 with a 1.68 ERA. De Nava has struck out 213 in 142 innings and walked just 34 during her senior campaign. 

For her win over Valley View, De Nava was included on a top performance list by SBLive Sports and then she really put up. big numbers. 

She collected nearly 5,000 votes and 56.28 percent of the ballots to win the SBLive Athlete of the Week (April 24-30), presented by Jersey Mike's Subs.

Mariah Rodriguez, Anaheim softball: Rodriguez went 3-4 with a home run, double, walk and four runs batted in against Western on Monday.

Casey Fazzini, Etiwanda softball: Fazzini went 2-3 with a home run and four runs batted in against Los Osos last week.

Allyson Wolf, Valencia (Valencia) softball: Wolf went 3-4 with a home run and a double in Monday's 11-3 win over Camarillo.

Taylor Armstrong, Oceanside softball: Armstrong had four hits including a home run and a triple and drove in four runs against Ramona on Monday.

Sofia Mujica, Granite Hills (El Cajon) softball: Mujica hit two home runs last week and is now the all-time home run leader in San Diego Section history with 43.

Isaiah Hernandez, Bishop Amat baseball: Hernandez went 2-4 and had a walk-off RBI double in Monday's 5-4 win over La Salle.

Braden Meehan, Temecula Valley baseball: Meehan went 3-3 with two triples and three runs batted in during Monday's win over Riverside Poly.

Jacob Loving, Murrieta Valley baseball: Loving went 3-4 with four runs batted in during Monday's 15-14 walk-off win against Paloma Valley.

Brandon Chang, JSerra baseball: Chang hit a game-winning three-run home run in Thursday's 5-3 win over Orange Lutheran.

Aiden Simpson, Corona Centennial baseball: Simpson hit a game-winning RBI double on Tuesday to give the Huskies a 2-1 win over Corona.

Cole Hansen, Norco baseball: Hansen had two hits including a home run in Monday's comeback 3-2 win over Roosevelt.

Tyler Howard, San Dieguito Academy baseball: Howard had seven hits and eight runs batted in during last week's sweep of San Pasqual and has now homered in four straight games.

Luke Caruso, Sage Creek baseball: Caruso had seven hits including three doubles and two triples and drove in 11 runs during last week's three-game sweep of Canyon Crest.

Josh Hartman, Rancho Bernardo baseball: Hartman went 2-3 with a home run, six runs batted in and a hit by pitch in Monday's win over San Marcos.

Carson Reese, Del Norte baseball: Reese pitched a complete game and struck out 15 batters in Tuesday's 4-3 win over Westview.

Sean Cannon, Coronado baseball: Cannon tossed a complete game shutout against La Jolla on Monday, striking out six batters.

Jacob Campagna, Classical Academy baseball: Campagna went 2-4 with a home run, two runs batted in and a stolen base in Monday's 5-4 win over Francis Parker.
