Central Phenix City (12-0)
The Red Devils lost to Thompson 38-22 when the two teams met in the 2021 state title game, but they have been absolutely dominant this season on their way to earning a chance at redemption.
Not only have they won every game this season, but they have done so with an average margin of victory of more than 32 points per game.
Thompson (11-1)
Aside from a heartbreaking 36-33 loss to Clay-Chalkville at the end of September, the Warriors have been nearly untouchable this season.
They have held all other opponents to two touchdowns or less and have scored 34 points or more in eight of their games.
If they can top the Red Devils once again, they will become the first school to win five consecutive state championships in the AHSAA’s largest classification.
