Alabama high school football computer rankings: Central-Phenix City solidifies No. 1 spot (10/23/2023)
Thanks in large part to Cam Coleman, Central-Phenix City left no doubt on Friday night.
Coleman, a Texas A&M commit, caught nine passes for a career-high 295 yards and four touchdowns to lead Central-Phenix City (8-0) to a 41-20 win over Auburn (6-2) in a matchup of two of the best teams in 7A Alabama high school football (watch the highlights above).
The win solidified Central-Phenix City's spot at the top of the SBLive 7A Alabama football computer rankings, and it dropped Auburn to No. 7.
In SBLive's 6A football computer rankings Muscle Shoals (8-0) moved up to the top spot, ahead of fellow unbeatens Clay-Chalkville (8-0) and Hillcrest (9-0). Check the full rankings below.
SBLive's computer rankings formula was created using its own linear algebra-based ranking algorithm inspired by the Colley Bias-Free Ranking Method. Colley’s Method was created by Wes Colley, Ph.D., an astrophysicist at the University of Alabama at Huntsville. He devised his algorithm in order to help address the subjectivity and controversy regarding BCS college football selections in the 1990s and early 2000s, using a method that used no subjective variables.
