Owasso defeats Edmond North: Live score, Oklahoma (OSSAA) high school boys basketball state championship recap (3/9/2024)

Owasso and Edmond North have been two of the top high school boys basketball teams in Oklahoma throughout the 2023-24 season.

On Saturday at the Lloyd Noble Center in Norman, the Owasso Rams (25-4) and Edmond North Huskies (24-3) will square off in the OSSAA 6A state championship game.

Owasso entered the state tournament ranked No. 2 in Oklahoma by SBLive, with Edmond North right behind at No. 3. The two teams played each other in December, and Edmond North won 58-46.

The OSSAA 6A state championship game between Owasso and Edmond North is being streamed on the NFHS Network and is scheduled to tip off at 7:00 p.m. CT.

OVERTIME

-- Owasso inbounds the ball and avoids a foul. The clock runs out in a 57-53 victory for the Rams, who capture the OSSAA 6A state title.

-- Chiante Tramble gets two points for Edmond North coming off an offensive rebound, but it's likely too little and too late. Owasso leads 57-53 with 4.5 seconds to go.

-- Owasso forces a turnover and Boden Williams goes to the line for two shots, but he misses both.

-- Jax Kerr fouls out with 42.8 seconds left, but Edmond North misses both free throws. Owasso's Gabe Patterson hits two free throws on the other end to extend the Rams' lead to 57-51 with 36 seconds to go.

-- Jalen Montonati goes 2-for-2 from the free throw line to tie the game then hits a corner three on the next possession to give Owasso a 54-51 lead. The five-star sophomore has scored 33 points tonight.

FOURTH QUARTER

-- Chiante Tramble comes through once again. The senior guard hits a three pointer for Edmond Memorial to tie the game. Owasso can't get a shot off on the final possession, so they'll need overtime to decide a state champion.

-- Montonati goes 2-for-2 from the free throw line. Owasso leads 49-46 with 38 seconds left.

-- Montonati rises up over a defender from mid-range and nails the shot. Owasso is in front 47-46 with less than a minute to go.

-- Jalen Montonati is showing why he's considered a five-star recruit. The sophomore drills a three with a defender in his face to make it a one point game with less than three minutes to go.

-- Coming out of a timeout, Edmond North will inbound the ball up 46-42 with 3:16 remaining. 

-- Jalen Montonati converts the and-one to make it a four point game, 42-38. 

-- Boden Williams rattles in a three for Owasso to cut into the lead. The Rams trail 40-35 early in the fourth.

THIRD QUARTER

-- Jalen Montonati hits a big three for Owasso on its final possession of the quarter to make it 39-30 entering the fourth. 

-- Tatum Ridge and Chiante Tramble sink back-to-back threes, and Edmond North's lead grows to 39-27 with under a minute to go in the quarter.

-- Dontrell Yearby knocks down a three pointer to extend Edmond North's lead to 31-25. The Huskies have responded well to Owasso's run.

-- Edmond North stops the bleeding, as Dylan Warlick hits a pair of free throws to put the Huskies up 28-25.

-- A quick 7-0 run by Owasso to start the quarter has the Rams faithful on their feet. It's 26-25 in favor of Edmond North, but the Rams have momentum on their side.

SECOND QUARTER

-- Edmond North leads by eight, 26-18, after one half of play. The Huskies put the clamps on the Rams offense, leading by as many as 11 points in the first half.

-- Jalen Montonati hits a much-needed three for Owasso after the Rams fell behind by 11 points. It's 24-16 late in the half.

-- Wyoming signee Dylan Warlick drives to the basket for a layup to extend Edmond North's lead to 22-13 with a few minutes left in the first half. The Huskies are locking up the Rams defensively.

-- After two scoreless minutes to start the quarter, Cody Lechlider gets a bucket to go for Owasso to make it a five point game.

FIRST QUARTER

-- After Jalen Montonati hits a three for Owasso with 10 seconds left in the quarter, Chianti Tramble hits a deep three as time expires to give Edmond North an 18-11 lead after one quarter.

-- Tatum Ridge knocks down a three from the wing to put Edmond North up 12-8 with less than two minutes to go in the quarter.

-- Five-star sophomore Jalen Montonati drills a three for Owasso to make it 9-8 after Chiante Tramble put Edmond North ahead by four with a stepback jumper.

-- Nearly four minutes into the game, Owasso senior Cody Lechlider puts the Rams on the board with an and-one from the post.

-- Owasso head coach Brian Montonati calls timeout after Edmond North starts the game on a 7-0 run.
