Alabama high school football schedule: AHSAA Week 7 (10/5/23 - 10/6/23)
The 2023 Alabama high school football season continues with Week 7 matchups getting underway on Thursday and Friday, and this week's slate of games might just be the best of the season.
Most weeks have at least a few good games on the schedule, but Week 7 features five matchups between a pair of teams ranked in the Top 15 of the latest Alabama high school football rankings.
While all five games could be game-of-the-week contenders, there is no bigger showdown on the schedule than the No. 2 Central Red Devils hosting the No. 3 Donthan Wolves in Phenix City Friday night.
The Wolves escaped with a 35-28 victory when these two teams met last season, and Friday's matchup has all the makings of another instant classic.
The winner will gain an advantage in the season standings, but this game could be a potential Class 7A state championship preview.
In case one potential state championship matchup wasn't enough, there will be another in Trussville on Friday when the No. 4 Hewitt-Trussville Huskies host the No. 7 Thompson Warriors.
The Huskies may be the higher-ranked team, but Thompson is the defending Class 7A state champions and the Warriors beat the Huskies in a 14-12 nailbiter when the two met a year ago.
