Washington (WIAA) high school 4A/3A girls basketball state playoffs: Live trophy-round updates, scores, top performers (3/2/2024)

State tournament action finished up Saturday the Tacoma Dome

The WIAA Class 4A and 3A boys and girls championships finished up Saturday with medal games, followed by afternoon and evening championships matchups in the Tacoma Dome.

CLASS 4A BOYS CHAMPIONSHIP SUMMARY (Bracket)

Final: No. 1 Mount Si 72, No. 7 Richland 58

In the end, the Wildcats' guard combinations were too much to corral - and the top seeds won their first WIAA title since 2020.

Trevor Hennig tallied a game-high 28 points, 18 coming in the second half. He also got help from backcourt mates Jack Taylor (18 points), Blake Forrest (17 points, including four 3-pointers) and Latt Ford (five).

CLASS 4A BOYS CONSOLATION GAMES (Bracket)

No. 4 Glacier Peak 52, No. 5 Davis of Yakima 47

Glacier Peak built up a 15-point lead by halftime and the Grizzlies turned away a second-half comeback bid by the Pirates to leave Tacoma with the third-place trophy.

Reed Nagel led the Grizzlies with 14 points while Zachary Albright 12 added 12.

Cesar Hernandez scored a game-high 18 for Davis and Finnegan Anderson recorded a double-double of 14 points and 15 rebounds.

No. 8 Kentwood 69, No. 11 Skyview 47

Led by Mason St. Louis' 22 points and seven rebounds, Kentwood earned its first state trophy since winning it all in 2017.

Ahead by just one point after the first quarter, the Conquerors offense found its stride, outscoring Skyview in every quarter after.

Skyview was led by Ryan Hanson's 13 points.

CLASS 4A GIRLS CHAMPIONSHIP SUMMARY (Bracket)

Final: No. 1 Camas 57, No. 8 Gonzaga Prep 41

Gonzaga Prep scored the first six points of the game, but that's about as good as it got for the Bullpups.

Camas scored the next 20 and dominated Gonzaga Prep for much of the rest of the game en route to the Papermakers' first state title.

CLASS 4A GIRLS CONSOLATION GAMES (Bracket)

Final: No. 5 Davis of Yakima 70, No. 4 Sumner 67

Having played each other last week at regionals, this round between Sumner and Davis played out the same in nearly every way except the final score.

This time around, it was the Pirates on top by three, securing third place and their first state trophy in program history.

Davis ninth grader Cheyenne Hull recorded a 29-point, 11-rebound double-double in the win. Esmeralda Galindo added 17 points and nine rebounds for the Pirates.

Final: No. 2 Woodinville 78, No. 6 Bothell 70

A big second and third quarter paved the way for Woodinville to lock up fourth place.

The Falcons outscored Bothell 51-34 across those two quarters to build up a lead of as many as 15 points, but they still had to withstand one last push from the Cougars.

Jaecy Eggers scored 19 points and brought down 10 rebounds to lead Woodinville on both ends of the floor.

2023-24 Washington high school boys basketball, WIAA semifinals: Mount Spokane vs. Eastside Catholic

CLASS 3A BOYS CHAMPIONSHIP SUMMARY (Bracket)

Final: No. 2 Eastside Catholic 65, No. 10 Rainier Beach 57

Eastside Catholic was finally able to pull away from Rainier Beach in the second half and the Crusaders captured their first state championship in program history.

Jacob Cofie was voted MVP of the tournament and scored 17 points and brought down 13 rebounds.

CLASS 3A BOYS CONSOLATION GAMES (Bracket)

Final: No. 6 Mount Spokane 66, No. 4 O'Dea 62

The game belonged to Mount Spokane early and the Wildcats were able to turn away O'Dea late to hang on for third place.

A barrage of 3-pointers got O'Dea close, but the Wildcats kept up just enough in the end.

Bode Gardner scored a game-high 18 points and brought down eight rebounds for Mount Spokane.

Final: No. 5 Mountlake Terrace 65, No. 3 Garfield 62

Mountlake Terrace led from the jump to take down third-seeded Garfield and secure fourth place in the 3A tournament.

Jaxon Dubiel scored a game-high 26 and grabbed eight rebounds to lead the Hawks. Zaveon Jones scored 16 and hauled in 16 rebounds for a double-double.

Sammy Taylor and Dre Niko each scored 10 to lead Garfield.

Addison Wells-Morrison, Mead girls basketball, class of 2026

CLASS 3A GIRLS CHAMPIONSHIP SUMMARY (Bracket)

Final: No. 6 Garfield 62, No. 1 Mead 59

Katie Fiso hit consecutive 3-pointers late in the fourth quarter to lift Garfield to its fourth straight WIAA 3A state title.

Fiso scored a game-high 29 points while Mead star Teryn Gardner scored a team-high 22 in the loss.

CLASS 3A GIRLS CONSOLATION GAMES (Bracket)

Final: No. 2 Lakeside of Seattle 65, No. 3 Snohomish 44

Mia Broom poured in a game-high 27 points to lead Lakeside of Seattle to a third-place finish.

The Lions were up 13 at halftime and led by as many as 24 in the second half.

Tyler Gildersleeve-Stiles led Snohomish with 17 points.

Final: No. 5 Arlington 38, No. 12 Everett 33

Led by Samara Morrow's 17 points, Arlington edged out Everett to earn the fourth-place trophy.

The Eagles never trailed and held back any attempt by the Seagulls at crawling back into it.

Alana Washington scored 20 and brought down seven rebounds for Everett.
