1B WIAA girls basketball semifinals: Neah Bay beats Crosspoint to advance to 3rd straight championship
Through three quarters, Crosspoint Academy was hanging around with defending Class 1B girls basketball champion Neah Bay.
And then the Lady Reds kicked it into gear - and right into the WIAA 1B girls basketball finals for a third consecutive season.
Seniors Amber Swan and Ezrah Ray were right in the middle of it, too - a 20-0 run to begin the fourth quarter, and Neah Bay pulled away for a 67-34 victory Friday in the Spokane Arena.
Behind Riya Tobosa’s inside activity, the Warriors trailed 40-33 at the end of three quarters.
But 34 seconds into the final quarter, Swan started the run with a three-point play - and the Lady Reds were off and running.
By the time Qwaapeys Greene broke free off an uncontested layin off a turnover, Neah Bay led 60-33.
Crosspoint went scoreless for the first 5:59 - until Tobosa’s free throw ended 20 unanswered Neah Bay points.
Swan finished with a game high 22 points on 10-of-19 shooting. Ray added 15 points.
Neah Bay will play Mount Vernon Christian for the 1B girls basketball state championship Saturday at 9 p.m.
