The WIAA Class 3A girls championships began Wednesday at 3:45 p.m. with first-round loser-out games in the Tacoma Dome.

Final: No. 3 Snohomish 48, No. 11 Kennewick 40
In the first half, the Panthers looked like world beaters.
In the second half, they looked like cliffhangers.
"You saw the Panthers this year," Snohomish girls coach Ken Roberts said.
"We can be one of the best teams. Or we can do that."
Kennewick rallied from 20 points down, and had a possession to tie the game with less than a minute to go.
But the Panthers buckled down to finish the job - and move on to play 3A Wesco rival Arlington in the state quarterfinals.
The District 1 champions couldn't have asked for a better start to their tournament. busting out in the first half and cruising to an easy victory.
Kennewick could not find the range against Snohomish's zone defense - 5-for-33 in the first half, including misfiring on all 12 3-point attempts.
Addyson Gallatin was red-hot for the Panthers, canning four of the team's five first-half 3-pointers for 18 of her game-high 23 points.
And Tyler Gildersleeve-Stiles inside bucket and three-point play with 7.6 seconds to go was the exclamation on a dominant opening half - a 31-11 lead.
But the Lions got going early in the second half, sinking five 3-pointers - three by Ashlyn Dress.
Dress' final long-range bucket cut it to 43-40 with 1:03 to go.
But Snohomish made 5-of-6 free throws down the stretch for the win.
"There is some youth that shows up at times," Roberts said. "When our kids are playing loose - and playing - we are great."

Final: No. 7 Bonney Lake 56, No. 10 Lincoln of Tacoma 34
The Panthers are on to the state quarterfinals for the first time in program history after upending league rival Lincoln in the first round Wednesday evening for their first-ever victory in the Tacoma Dome.
“This is unreal,” Bonney Lake forward Jazmyn Shipp said. “We’ve gone through a lot of adversity this year. We lost our point guard at the beginning of the playoffs, so we’ve had to really fight through and dig deep.
“I’m so proud of this team. This is making school history. So, it’s just super cool to be able to enjoy that with my team.”
This was the third time 3A PCL champion Bonney Lake and Lincoln have met this season, and all three meetings have resulted in double-digit wins for the Panthers.
“It’s really hard to beat a team three times in a row, and we’ve had a history of losing to Lincoln,” Shipp said. “ … This year it’s finally different. We just wanted to pick it up and make it definitive, in state, in the Dome, get the W.”
The Panthers led, 25-22, at the break and outscored the Abes, 17-4, in the third and 14-8 in the fourth to run away with the win.
Shipp, a three-time league MVP, completed a double-double with 17 points, 15 rebounds and five steals. Ava Rice also had a double-double with a game-high 19 points and 14 rebounds.
Cionna Wells led Lincoln with 11 points, while DeAndrea Woods-Singleton had eight.

Final: No. 12 Everett 43, No. 4 Auburn 42
Trailing by one point, Everett in-bounded the ball with less than 15 seconds to play, quickly moved the ball up the court, and Mae Washington tossed a pass ahead to Alana Washington, who scored the game-winning layup with 2.3 seconds to go Wednesday night to upend Auburn.
“She just knows I’m going to keep running,” Alana Washington said. “Obviously it paid off, and I’m so happy about that. I’m glad I was open for the layup. She put me in the right position, so I’m glad we got it.”
The win sends the Seagulls to the state quarterfinals for the first time since 1983.
Everett led by as many as 10 points early, but Auburn cut the lead back to single digits, at 29-22, by the halftime break.
The Trojans didn’t take their first lead until end of the third, on an Avery Hansen 3-pointer that made it 35-34 heading into the final quarter.
The lead changed twice more in the fourth before Alana Washington’s game-winner.
Alana Washington led the Seagulls with 15 points, five rebounds and six steals. Mae Washington added 12 points, six rebounds and three steals.
Hansen scored a game-high 23 points for Auburn, while Emmalee Secrest had eight and nine rebounds.

Final: No. 8 North Thurston 50, No. 9 Lake Washington 47
Soraya Ogaldez drove into the lane and hit what turned out to be the game-winning floater with 30 seconds to play, then hit two crucial free throws with 5.7 remaining to lift the Rams to the state quarterfinals for the first time in program history.
The win was also North Thurston’s first at a state tournament site since 1994.
“This is amazing,” said Ogaldez, who poured in a game-high 31 points and added six rebounds and six steals. “This is amazing. Over 30 years, and we finally did it. This is our year.”
North Thurston played a back-and-forth contest with Lake Washington — which had advanced to the 3A title game each of the past three seasons — throughout, with neither team leading by more than five at any point.
The lead changed six times in the final quarter — and 11 overall — with the Kangaroos taking their final lead on an Ashley Uusitalo 3-pointer with 55 seconds to go.
Ogaldez hit the game-winner on the next possession, then tallied a steal on Lake Washington’s next trip up the floor. Lake Washington fouled to send Ogaldez to the free throw line, and the junior guard hit both to extend the lead to 50-47.
“We just knew we had to stay in it and play hard, because this is what we’re here for — to win,” Ogaldez said.
“Today was about team,” Rams coach Jackie Meyer said. “We’ve been talking about that all year. Our motto has kind of been, the bigger the dream, the bigger the team, and today was about everybody working together.”
Alberta Samuelu added nine points and seven rebounds for the Rams.
Paige Citron led Lake Washington with 12 points and seven rebounds, while Uusitalo had 11 points, five rebounds and four assists.
