The Eagles would score first basket of the game before Gonzaga Prep went on that six-minute run.

And after being up 20-4 early on, Gonzaga Prep never looked back.

“The kids came out ready to play, we were aggressive, it all came together.” Gonzaga Prep coach Matty McIntyre said. “That was the crucial to our hot start."

Brogan Howell led the Bullpups with 15 points. Dylan Groves and Nate Christy added 10 points apiece.

“Our goal was to come out with a lot of energy and jump on them early.” Howell said.

Kofi Peyton led Federal Way with 12 points.

“We really hang our hat on our defense, it allows us to control the game.” McIntyre said. “We executed our man to man tremendously tonight.”

The Bullpups win gives them a first-round bye in the WIAA tournament. They’ll play on Thursday at 7:15 p.m. in the 4A quarterfinals. The Eagles will play at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
